I have a howling raven muzzle brake would it be illegal in the red rifle world to put it on a PU sniper?

Did it anyway.

I'm probably an anomaly for anyone wandering the red forum, but I like the mix of old and new. Like classic cars with a modern spin, like say rims... But that's just me. I like

I've never quite understood the point of a muzzle brake on a bolt action rifle.

So it doesn't jump and kick and you flinch less to make a more accurate shot. So you can concentrate on hitting the target and not worry about getting scope eye.

Thank you, I was unaware of what function muzzle brakes performed.

Recoil is an issue with follow-up shots, not the initial shot, which comes into play with semi-automatic rifles. With a bolt action rifle recoil doesn't impact accuracy unless you are afraid of recoil and anticipate it.

Go for it, it's not permanent. If you get tired of it or sell the rifle you can remove it as easy as you installed it. As to recoil on the mosin, well that's part of the joy of shooting one.

Ok, got to ask now that I am following this posting.
What regulation/rule does adding a muzzle brake to a non-restricted rifle become a prohib or illegal modification?

1 shot 1 kill I guess no follow up shots with a bolt action I guess they put 4 to many rounds in a mosin. Of course you can put a muzzle brake on a bolt action many hunters do and why not? The bonus is it looks bada$$.

I find it fun to test out products made for these rifles and to have first hand experience if it actually reduces recoil by 70%.

It's an issue with every shot. Brakes on bolt actions are awesome in matches where you have next to no time to make hits on many targets. It's nice to be able to stay on target, see your hits, and piss off everyone else on the line with your loud noise! None of my rifles are braked, but ones that are are very nice to shoot.

Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it :)

If it is a slip on brake with a couple little set screws holding it on there is a pretty good chance that it will work loose and launch its self down range.
I have seen happen with a number of crap brakes on sks. I am sure 7.62x54 will increase the odds of a sucsessful launch. The cool factor will be long gone when everyone at the range is searching for your parts at the 50 yard mark.
Rifles that are built to use a brake are threaded with a crush washer, detent, or even a spot weld to secure them.
Regardless....it is realy what ever floats your boat.
