Is it just me or has vortex become garbage?

I have been considering a Burris Veracity but I've read some mixed reviews on the glass quality being much better than the Fullfield, at 3X the price. My friend's PST has very good glass (for my eyes)... of course I haven't looked through a Veracity so it's so hard to make an educated decision on these rather large purchases.

I bought a stop-gap optic for my rifle (Bushnell Trophy XLT) and lets just say I need more optic than what that can give me. My eyes have issues and I need a larger objective lens and clearer glass.

Don't discount the new Bushnell Elite line. Excellent Optics.

I wouldn't consider any of their low end scopes except on a 22.

But I own 2 Venom 2 Sparc 1 spitfire 1 strikefire that all get abused, a Viper 4-16 that had about 80 rounds of 50 bmg so far and Razor. None of them have been a problem to far.

I'm considering the Sightron STAC line... supposed to be awesome for the dollar spent.

I've read the same, and they're more affordable than the S3. I'd pick an S2 or an STAC over a Vortex Viper today, but, having only had "hands-on" with the S3...I decided to save a little longer, check under the couch cushions, etc. :) Only downside is...my wife learned what an S3 costs. lol

I hope to get a light-carry .204R somewhere in the not-too-distant future and an S2 or STAC will likely get the nod.

I have never been a Vortex fan - always thought they were a great warranty company that made scopes. The PST line is where I felt there decent scopes ( quality vs price ) were at but I am very, very impressed with the Razor HD Gen II. I figure that the lower end stuff is just there for market share and marketing.

I've been a vortex fanboy for a lot of years.

I think at one point I had 5 scopes. I had only had issues with 1 and it was vey minor (flake of something on the lens inside)

recently I have had #### luck with them.

recently:
I had a 3.5x10 Diamond back that was zero jumping every shot.
I just picked up a spitfire 3X and the turrets aren't tracking right and after 20 .223 rounds the reticle is canted.

my friend bought a 4-16 viper PST ffp this summer, and it was fuzzy as all hell, the first replacement was the same, so he returned it and bought a nightforce.
IVe talked to quite a few people that are having the same issues, bad turrets and fuzzy optics... on DB, vipers even a razor with turrets that couldn't pass a box test.

SO Is it just my bad luck rearing its head... or is anyone else experiencing the same things?

There's your first problem you had a diamond back , that's there bottom of the line . Get a pst or a razor

There's a PST gen2 that's coming out in the spring , gonna be a great scope it's already out in the states , already have mine pre ordered for 1,479$ Canadian awsome price . Big turrets like the gen 2 razor with 25 MOA for a full revolution , a true zero stop like the razor ( no more shims) and the glass is the same as the razor gen 1 a step above the original PST gen 1 .

Bushnell has the ugliest turrets in the buisness they look like the millett scope turrets high and narrow turets , bigger diameter lower profile turrets are the new thing

I don't really care about aesthetics, but since we are on the topic, you mean turrets like the ones on this Elite Tactical:

Which Bushnell are you looking at because my HDMR and XRS has some decent size turrets:

I agree, Millet turrets are high and narrow compared to other brands, but my Bushnells are totally different.

Back to the OP's question, I like Vortex products, though I don't own many. From my personal experiences, the PST was decent, but the Razor was better. I'd say it was on par with my HDMRs in terms of clarity.

I just picked up a Gen 2 4.5-27x56mm and it's pretty impressive. Better than the HDMRs, but not quite as good as my S&B and Steiner.

The Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 is sick - the eye relief is incredible. I don't really know how to describe it, but when you're looking at it, the sight picture is huge, as if the scope isn't even there, just a projection in mid-air.

As for the PST Gen 2, I'm pretty interested in this product and would like to see it in person.

How's the qty on their pistol sights? I wanna get either a Venom or Viper but not sure which to get. However, I keep hearing horrible story about them shutting off automatically?

The venom is the way to go and shortly NAS will have the 6moa ones in stock as well as the original 3moa. I've used them on pistols, shotguns and pistol caliber rifles, no complaints even with 3" 00 buck or slugs.

With the reputation of mixed reviews this company has why risk it? I get that some people are satisfied and no issues, but I have seen the top end scopes fail just like the low end scopes. Yes, they have a warranty that carries weight, but I'm sorry to say my time and energy is far more important. The warranty is the biggest reason people still buy these I believe.

It's because they are buying there lower end versions and they complain the scope sucks lol , go buy a 200$ bushnell scope at Walmart and see what you get lol , if your gonna spend 400$ on a scope your not getting much

I have a Vortex HSLR SFP in 44x4x16 (I think) Magnification and a Gen 1 PST in 50x60x24 FFP and they have been great as has my Sparc. I have had a diamond back 2x7x33 on an M305b that the glass went bad, and I have a DB 6x24x50 I think that is okay but glass is only OK. Its gonna get sold and upgraded though as it just not much to look through once you have been looking through HSLR, or PST

So the failure rate of these scopes relates primarily to the lower end units? Ive seen higher end ones fail but that could just be isolated cases like any other name.
