Is the Browning X-Bolt a good rifle?

Personally I think you will love the X-bolt. I have had both the A-bolts and the X-bolt and the Xbolt is hands down 100% better. The magazine does at first glance look cheap but let me tell you this...its one tough unit...ran mine over with my Dodge Dually and no damage other than a few little marks from the stones in the drive way. I doubt even a steel magazine would have come out that good!

The trigger is deffinatly better than the A-bolt, right out of the box there is no creep and I didn't even bother lightening mine up because it was perfect. Bolt is smooth and love that I can open the bolt without taking of the saftey. The best thing though about mine (325wsm Stainless Stalker) is the stock. The dura-armour coating is amazing and you will love it. Even on a cold, wet day..you can firmly grip the stock. The build in limb saver is also amazing and I feel more kick from my dads Remington bolt gun (270) than with this .325.

Great gun and you will love it!

I currently own 2 a-bolt rifles, both shoot very well, group under an inch with factory loads. I had the opportunity to shoot a new x-bolt composite in 7mm rem. I found it balanced nicely, functioned smoothly and also shot sub-moa groups with factory loads. Love the detach box and the recoil pad. Nothing real fancy, the appearance takes some getting used to, but it will definetly get the job done.

I went in and looked at the x bolt with the synthetic stock and the model 70 featherweight and I found the wood did not seem Hugh quality, I did not like the safety, i loved the safety on the x bolt. If my choice was x bolt or model 70, I'd have to go for the x bolt hands down

I have a new model 70 and a new x bolt,,there safetys work the same, both can be opened in the same maner. the winny is a heaveier gun. Both mine are in an oil finnished wood and the winny is a higher quality and looks better. The x bolt feels a little more comfortable to me but is also in a very much smaller caliber than the 70. I think for an apple and an orange they are both nice but he 70 is a bit cheaper to buy

I have two X-bolts so far - Synthetic Stainles Stalker and Hunter models. They are really nice rifles and just feel great. They do look strange as Browning gave them a newer design but for me it is like when you see updated models of vehicles. Many times they take some time to get used to... The X-bolt has really grown on me. These are my first brownings as I passed on the A-bolts a long time ago...

I have been looking for a new X-bolt Stainless Stalker Carbon Fiber in 300 WSM. Anyone know where one is in stock or has anyone handled one of these yet.

have handled this gun with a synthetic stock and stainless barrel, ellwoodepps may have one in stock, check em out! if they dont have it, they can get it for a in a few weeks!

I fired a lot of rifles this season (I do scope adjustments at a local range) and I was pleasantly surprised by the X. I own a TRG-22 so I rarely like the triggers on "hunting" rifles. But I liked the X very much! The action was smooth, and it looks great (IMHO). Accuracy was good, zeroing that rifle was just great.

It was a breath of fresh air after firing so many 770 and No.4 !

As for long term quality, I cannot comment.

The safety on the X-Bolt and on the the Model 70 are NOT the same. Model 70 has a three position wing safety. X-Bolt has a nice shotgun style two position tang safety. They operate completely differently.

They are quite popular with people that know very little about guns. Wonder why that is.....

So is that really true that all the people that own Brownings are just ignorant firearms owners, wow I bet they are unhappy with that news now. Wait till I tell some of my friends what dumbasses they are.

That was an informational and inciteful post give yourself a gold star-I'm sure you pat yourself on that back pretty regularly as it is!

I try to keep the posts direct and to the point so guys that are operating on less than a full deck can understand them. I glad to see it's not been in vain. Thanks for coming out.:jerkit:

X bolt vs a bolt

some factual things between the 2, a bolt has the goofy clip in floor plate going on, x bolt has regualr polymer mag, very strong at that, z bolt is a solid 1 peice molded synthetic stock a bolt is like every other platsic stock, hollow and 2 peices glued together, x bolt has a far superior recoil pad, inflex ( promoting muzzle jump down). also 8 hole mounting set up oppose to 4 on the x bolt, and finally x bolt has 3 position saftey, well its a tab u push down to extract loaded round while safety is on, great feature,

owned both, and would never purchase another abolt with the x bolt out,

again just my opinion

I'm pretty sure the X-bolt is the newer version of the a bolt
