Is the Caldwell XLA Bipod as good as a Harris?

I saw a video on this topic a while back. I am not sure if it was this one or another. One of the things mentioned was that the Caldwell is a few oz lighter.(thinner materials used)
I did not let it worry me as I ordered 2 of them plus the separate locking handles from @m@zon.
I am pretty gentle with my gear, I just use it. No one will ever see me diving to the ground with a rifle.
Bi-pods look good on a rifle, and help keep it from being damaged. I once had a young fella lay my Cooey in a pile of spent brass marking up the stock.
For a bit of prone or bench shooting (when I am not using borrowed bags) the Caldwell is fine IMOHO.

Where do you send them for repair?
Harris repairs their bipods free of charge except you have to ship them to Kentucky but they pay the return shipping.
They do not repair the completion's products.
Send the Caldwell without return shipping and they will recycle it for free . . .
I have only used Harris bipods since 1981 and while some "others" were acquired for "giveaways" but when they expire they will be recycled.

They are not as good quality. And I recommend reading up on Harris.

Thank tell me you don't support them for the extra money.

I have used them side by side, center fire, rimfire. It didnt matter. The Harris feels like it is built better for sure but I havent done any long term testing. My group sizes didnt change, neither did the feel of the recoil from the bipod "folding over".

Starting at $250 plus to over $400.

Seriously, if on a budget get the Caldwell. If you want one that will probably never leave you unhappy, get the Harris.

What if the Harris doesn't make you happy but the Atlas does?

I have had many of both... Caldwell does not hold a candle to the rigidity and quality of the Harris. My advice is to get the Harris for any recoiling rifle.

We are not allowed to discuss alternatives?

You are, of course, free to discuss all alternatives. I was simply pointing out that the OP was interested in comparing the Caldwell and Harris bipods.

As kamlooky observes, perhaps one could consider a whole range of bipods for use with a rimfire, including those often used by F Class shooters.

I am the OP.
