Is the USA glock just as good as the Austrian?

I had 2 Austrians and one usa glock. The usa model functioned fine but it almost had a "purple" tinge to it. I hear the Austrian made are now the same? Anyways I love my Austrian glocks no reason to buy anything else for me

may not seem like much but if you plan on using a holster a lot or doing 3 gun it may make a difference as the Tenifer is known to hold up a bit better.
and lets face facts, if the US hadnt banned the Tenifer finish they still be making them with it because it was better/more resilient than what they have now.

I hear you about the finish. My old Gen3 17 which I sold to get a Gen4 had the rich black tough as diamonds tenifer finish. My Gen4 has a smoother, duller charcoal grey finish. My Gen3 22 has the tenifer finish.
 
The finish is now the same on U.S. vs Austrian(wasn't before). Quality is on par, so the story goes. The U.S. made guns are slated for export(hence all the Glocks in Canada are U.S. made, except for old stock). And, here's the biggie, Austrian made Glock's are made and proofed in Austria, not assembled in Smyrna. If you find a Austrian proofed Glock(No Smyrna on the frame), buy it!

Here's mine, 17 Gen 3(Gen 3 because I could), born in the USA.

There's probably about the same difference as there is between a Mazda made in Japan by robots and one made in the USA by unionized FORD employees....

Or a Mercedes made in Germany and one made in the USA by unionized Chrysler employees...

Mine says "Made in Austria" and I am happy about it

I owned both, but I've never noticed any difference. What I've noticed for sure lately is the price. Funny how Glock became the most expensive polymer frame pistol on the market over the last 3 years or so. It used to be the other way around. One will have no problem to find S&W M&P, SIG P320 or even H&K pistols cheaper than Glock these days. I'm keeping mine for sure, but I don't understand why Glock decided to price its pistols out of the market.

$1100 in Cabela's.
S&W M&P and SIG P320 are around $720.
H&K V...something is $10 cheaper than Glock at Shooting Edge in Calgary.
I like Glock A LOT, but even with IOP pricing...I just can't justify getting a new one.
I may take a look at SIG 320 next year instead.

:sok2b: Unreal! Sorry, for that much I'm going to throw another few hundred in and go with a 1911!?

I paid $700 for my G17 gen 4 when they came out, and had my share of buyers regret at the time because the M&P was like $550-$600 at the time.

I would not, I will not, pay $1100 for a Glock...and I like Glocks (I quickly got over my remorse once I figured out my grip issues). @ $1100, the item is $500 overpriced at a retail level! (Profit margins considered)
