Is there a 30/06 milsurp rifle?

alright thanks, i was looking for a inexpensive 30/06 but these are just as much as a brand new 700

If you're looking for a cheap rifle, you're playing the wrong game. :D 30/06 Milsurps have never been really common here, for some reason and you have to pay the price. My vote? Belgian FN 49

Don't kid yourself, the milsurps are much better built than a brand new 700. A bigger question is ammo, unless you reload any of the centerfires are around $1/round (or more) and the cost will quickly eclipse the cost of the rifle.

I'll say. I have a 700 in 3006 and a 1917 in 3006. Just pick up the guns blindfolded and you'll know the difference.

Honestly, I've seen 3x p17's in the EE in the last month (mine included). None of them commanding an "un-real" price...a fraction of what 700's go for.

If I'd known what mine was actually going to shoot like, I may have kept it a year or, so.

FN49,is a slightly little different scene...

With the price of ammo, I'd be looking for something else! LOL

I was gonna pick up an Enfield, but after seeing the price of .303 I changed my mind on that pretty quick.

Just waiting on delivery of a M44 Mosin Nagant I got for $175. 440 rounds for $160($200 w/ shipping and taxes) is a pretty convincing argument, as well!

With the current 91/30 refurbs going for $110 I'd be all over that if I didn't find the M44.

6.5 x 55 swede IMO.
I've got one and despite having only fired a handfull of rd's am still amazed at the worksmanship on it.
And they are still really cheap on the EE. Not Mosin cheap; but mosin's are pretty crude compared to a swede. Come to think of it my large ring k-98 is pretty crude compared to swede's ( or even Lee Enfields better offerings)
6.5 X 55 is still a relatively rare round; but if you plan ahead and order online you'll be able to shoot to your heart's content.
Good luck; stay safe

Don't forget those lovely, small ring Mexican model 1954 or those very last made 98 Mausers built for Honduras. You will pay an arm and a leg for them but if you find a decent one, they are fantastic. Both are in 30-06.

Tradex, has some 1912 Steyr rifles in 7.62x51 (308 Winchester) at very reasonable prices. Lots of ammunition around for them as well. The two I have, shoot very well.

In all honesty, it's a fools game to cut down and build a decent sporting rifle on a milsurp. By the time you're finished, it will cost 2 to 3 times as much as a Savage (shudder) which will shoot under 2cm right out of the box and can even be had with a factory installed scope for a very reasonable price.

A lot cheaper than shooting .303 for US.

Yep!

I was looking to buy an Enfield until I really looked into the availability of Misurp ammo, and price of commercial.

I just received a Polish Mosin Nagant M44 from Epps for $175!

The metal and wood are mint on this thing, and I have just refinished the stock in a little darker stain, just cuz I didn't like the yellowish colour of the original.

The bore looks like it might have had some corrosive primer residue in it for some time, but it was so dirty it didn't get too bad. Still shiny, but with a little pitting, but had it out to the range today and had several shots touching at 50m.

Very nice gun, and for the money there isn't a better thing I could find.

Ammo costs with Milsurp are pretty good. Budgetshootersupply up top has 440 rounds for $160 which turns into $200 shipped for me.

Prices are even crazier in the states, with the same crate going for about $100.

Just for fun:
