Is there a new RC K98k import?

There are going to be a few more coming on the marked (few hundred) from my sources and available on a few more sites. Originating out of Toronto. Mixed feedback from dealers who had the opportunity to bring them in. Some say decent RC's and others say junk!

Really it isn't a horrible deal. Some RC's sold the first time for $399-550 (depending on the store). They come with 2x original pouches (at least $20 value). Heck, they are worth $400+ if you regard them as the sum of parts....

M44 and M38's were $200 two years ago and now selling for $400. M1 Garands were $800-1000 and are now selling for $1600-2000. We should be lucky these K98's haven't doubled in two years!

I doubt they come with original pouches.
The problem is that most RC we had up to now have been good to excellent condition. These are bottom of the barrel, and cost more then ever.

I just couldn't justify almost $1000 for an RC. You might as well get an original bolt or other minor mismatch from the US and import it, wouldn't be much more, but a way better example.
I.E. I know where a really nice bolt mismatch is for sale, shipped for $700. Plus import and duties. Ends up around $1100. Or around $800 with tax and shipping for an RC............

What are some opinions about the way SFRC is selling thier RC's ? One price of 669.95 plus tax plus shipping and no grading. I am interested in buying one but am a little shy about buying like that. I might take a chance just because I want one but I hate suspense.....

i wouldnt, there going to be like the ones FF had and they looked in hard shape, for 670+ tax and shipping is a rip off, good condition RC were going from 500-600 on EE and since this stupid import killed the k98 market, now everyone wants 800-1k for there RC because somehow crappy k98 are selling that high, these new k98 i i personally think there are worth $200-$400 maybe bit more if somehow u get a nice one, but its up to you, maybe you would end up with a gem, i know if it was me after i payed 800+ for a rifle i now with my luck it would be the worst condition k98 on the planet haha

The pouches are the real deal...as for the rest of the story...
I don't like the idea of getting the next one out of the box...I would not buy one of this new group without selecting at least some attributes that are important to me.
I can live with some light electric pencil on a scrubbed bolt but a big X on the receiver or that dipped chalky coating drives me crazy.
The nice thing is the Dirty Birds are for the most part all there.

I have a hard time believing the pouches are ww2 german manufactured. The russians couldn't even keep original ww2 pouches with the mosins or svts.......

Could end up with a straight bolt.:ang:puke:

When all the dealers start to get their shipments people can report in makers, dates, intersting markings etc....

This is what I would wait for before buying one if I was interested. If you are going to be paying this kind of cash for a RC you should at least be able to pick what manufacturer and year you'd like. Maybe some people would like a pre-war dated rifle or someone needs a bnz for their collection. A little more info would be great.

Honestly, I'll pass unless the sellers cannot at least post detailed photos and indicate what code you are getting - maybe even a bore condition statement per rifle. At that price, it's merited.

If P&S or Tradex post them, I'll go there. They are much more up-front on condition.

Anyone notice that Marstar, Tradeex, P&S haven't posted this batch for sale yet?!? When something good comes around EVERYONE (specially these guys) want to sell them!.... Maybe this should be telling all of you something!?!?

Price/quality ratio just isn't there! Sure, you can find somebody that will buy anything.... But if your a collector, you'll keep looking.

I am concerned about condition "stock repairs" and "straight bolts". The first RC's in Canada didn't have either.

I heard these are out of the Ukraine. If I could handle one and know I had a rare code/year/marking/ex-sniper I would be willing to pay this premium price. All the listed variations did come in during past RC imports.

I also agree, that you can get a bolt MM K98 or all matching for $1000-1600 after import/taxes. For about double the price, you have a much nicer rifle. However, there are many buyers out there that have limited funding. Heck...I have limited funding...maybe a different price range...but still - you get the best you can with your budget.

PS is not getting them. I have heard nothing from Marstar or Tradex. The latest dealer to list these rifles was SFRC (75 received and less than 50 left).

I've inspected probably 17 of the new import of RC k98's. The ones i saw were in fair condition at best. Not one bore was clean, all were dark after a boresnake or two, and most had pitting.

I am an impulse buyer, and had cash in my mitts, and i had to walk away. (And i really wanted one!)

There were a few sauers (ce/147) some byf, couple duv's, one ar (the nicest example i saw internally and externally of the batch i inspected) some 243's, 42's.

To summarise: bores were fair to poor, stocks ranged from fair to poor, markings were intact, RC "x" stamp visible on all except one or two. I am by no means a conisseur of k98's, but definately not worth the premium this batch is going for. Seems to me that this batch costs what it does due only to supply and demand, the cost is NOT proportional to what is being offered. They look to be shootable pieces of history, and nothing more. Some of them may be good shooters, but they are not light refurbs, some of them show some fairly gnarly repairs

630$-700$ buys a lot of gun, you could by 2 yugo's from marstar for the same price and have really nice guns that have not been fu(ked hard and put away wet.

My .02 cents.

Enough said...Getting ridiculous....$700 for something unseen, uncertain bore, unknown markings, beaten up stock, Russian repaired or 'refurbished, straight bolt or bent bolt etc. etc. Someone, somewhere is having a laugh...

I know they are pricey but..
If somebody know when will be the next import of these and at what kind of price should talk now.
Me ,I don't know when we will see again RC k98 ( it's the last time? ) so I bought one :)
And I think that this import will set the price for all the RC K98 in Canada , nobody, who knows the current price, will sell is RC k98 for less than that.
Don't forget that this rifle ( beaten or not) still have good story to tell :)
my .02 cent

Yes they did. I am pretty sure the one I bought at epps came from P&S originaly & it has stock repairs. I also remember two they sold that had staright bolts.

Personally I think these capture rifles are true historical pieces. The last of the evidence, as far as we know, of the brutal conflict of the Eastern Front. No more indication that we will see any more witnesses. RC k98 rifles, I believe are truly collectible variations. Captured during the most ferocious campaigns mankind has ever known, refitted by the Soviet Union and stored for decades in preparation for Ww3, and given out to many 3rd world countries to battle their enemies. Absolutely full of history. I think we have been spoiled by near mint and inexpensive 91/30 and sks rifles that have flooded our market. Jesus, remember these are pushing 75 years old. I think the price is ok for a slice of history. I too wish they were cheaper, but they are not. Guys are paying $1800 for JRA pieces. But I do also wish for this money, years codes and markings are described accurately. I look forward to the reviews from the buyers.
