is there a revolver with a 4 1/4" barrel

Considering how small the Canadian gun market truly is (in relation to the USofA) and that Ruger even acknowledged, let alone produced some guns in a configuration specifically for our market (at least that's what it looks like, they could have just done 4" barrels and said screw us) when other manufacturers couldn't care less, I have to support that.:agree: Plus it gives me an excuse to buy another handgun :D
 
Gp 100

I just saw a 107mm Ruger GP100 in .357 mag at Al Simmins in Hamilton. Tim told me they made it for the Canadian market. It was brand new in Stainless and looked pretty sweet.

I bought the June 2009 Edition of Handloader, and on page 8 there is an article on Mountain Guns By Dave Scovill. Towards the end of the article on page 11 he writes, " Although it is not marketed as a Mountain Gun Ruger has a stainless Redhawk in 44 Magnum and 45 Colt with heavy 4.2 inch barrels"

Also right at the bottom of page 11 he writes, "The 4.2" - who came up with that oddball barrel length?

My guess is that Ruger is making these for the Canadian market. Dave Scovill is either not familiar with Canadian Law, which is likely, or he's doing it to invite questions from readers.

Of course the Ruger Catalog does not mention any of this, so your guess is as good as mine. Maybe when they specify 4" it really is 4.2". It's certainly worth looking into.
 
I recently bought a 100 year old Colt Army Special in .38 Special which is registered under the prohib banner. The barrel looked a little on the long side to be a 4" and measuring it I get 4.470", yet according to the gun cops its a prohib. Go figure. Who knows, I might have the longest barreled .38 caliber prohib revolver in the country.

Ruger GP-100 4.2""

This is great news. A Ruger GP with a "reasonably short" barrel thats restricted. Finally, I can leave a great revolver to my boys, if they so desire. This is one way to stick it to those bastards who make laws that only suppress law abiding, honest citizens. Intentional or not, I hope Ruger makes a sh&^load of money on these guns.

Have a verifier verify it and move it to restricted if you want! I love doing that, drives them nuts!

As to the Rugers, California has the same stupid 4" rule so I would bet that Ruger made the slightly longer barrels for that state, which has a market about twice that of the whole of Canada!

I bought one today, in calgary, and shot it today. It is a VERY accurate Gun.
Thanks to the Edm CFO, for quickly processing so that I may shoot her today.
