Was talking with a buddy and he said that in the next year or two that AR's would become non restricted.

For some reason I have a feeling they will be prohib befor non restricted.
But does anyone that might actually know have an opinion on this?

I don't actually know, but I believe that the way paranoia grows in the nation, we are going to see it prohib. I was having the same discussion at a gunstore, and I decided to buy one, if the grandfathering provisions would apply, then I have my slice of the pie.

Baby steps fellas...Libs out, CFC on the rocks, rules for non-restricted getting relaxed a tiny bit...We gotta stay positive, united and keep the pressure on.

The Sky, the SKy, the SKY, is Falling!!!!!!! Anything is Possible. Just depends on how much bad press the AR gets. IF someone can prove the point that it is a reliable, and extremely accurate platform for ridding farmers and land owners of pesky varments and down plays the military part of the design and the assault rifle stigma. Sure. What we need is someone with a Pink AR. Then you can say "Hey its Pink!!" What gang banger is going to carry this? It's pink not dangerous!!!

See, it doesn't look so evil : ;)

+1

Well put.

I just sent Stockwell a long letter about it, same with removing Mag capacities, waiting on his response.

It's free to send them a letter, just costs you the paper, ink, and time to go to the Postal box.

OHMS is all you need where the stamp goes.

Write today. Baby steps are great, and we're learning to walk again. It will happen.

With new laws supposed to be driven by 'auditable public safety' rather than liberal paranoia, I think there is a good chance we'll be hunting yotes with our ARs again.

I completely agree with this thought, although I also agree that it will probably become prohib long before it becomes non-restricted. Too bad though, these would be great guns for going plinking on private land and also for sending those wonderful critters to a better place :D

I really don't see why the government has to shun military rifles. I can see why they would despise the AK, but why the AR??? Its basically the same rifle that our soldiers use to defend our country and our allies at home or abroad, but I guess they don't trust joe-Canadian with a battle rifle... I think we could learn alot from Switzerland, ahhh how I envy my Swiss relatives!!!

Dont let the MBR guys here you saying that.

If anything they will either stay the same or go non-restricted. The only way to be prohibited is buy order in council and well the people in power now dont seem likely to do that.

My guess is that restricted rifles as a category dissapear once people start to realise that a gun is a gun is a gun.

We should have a program where every young man or woman has to train with an AR at some point during high school. Take the stigma off and at the same time steer some kids into the military.
Not quite Switzerland or Israel, but a beginning to having a populace with some kind of firearms respect.
