Is there anything someone can say to a meat eater who hates hunting?

Iv'e tried the "reasonable responsible hunter" routine for years, and eventually tired of it. Now I just go for shock value, and go on the offensive..

I say "I can't believe you eat that crap on a regular basis!!! No way I want to be ingesting all the chemicals they stuff into that factory raised meat! You feed that to your kids? Gross. Don't be surprised if they start growing a third eye or something. And the cruelty these animals are subjected to is unreal. How can you support torturing animals like that??

You go ahead and eat that tortured animal toxic meat chemical cocktail - I'll keep eating the free range, organic meat from the forest, raised without cruelty."

At the very least, I get to amuse myself for a bit.:D

Thats exactly what I say...It is funny... The look on their faces.:D

Here's a bit of an awkward situation for you guys. I know a family who eats meat like me and most other people out there. They buy beef, pork, chicken, and fish from the grocery store, also like most other people.

But, they also think hunting is terrible. And I don't just mean they personally don't like hunting, or don't want to hunt, they actually think it's unbelievably cruel and look down on everyone who does it. I just don't understand how people who buy and eat meat can have such a low opinion of people who just happen to like going out and getting their meat the old fashioned way.

I have politely given them all the facts on how most hunters are respectful and use all the meat, how many hunters live in areas where it is a practical form of either income (selling meat to butchers) or acquiring food, how it is much more humane to kill and eat a wild animal that it is to pay someone to kill and butcher an animal that was stuck on a farm, and how it can help the environment by maintaining a balanced ecosystem, especially in places with no natural predators.

But, regardless of what I say, they're still fixated on the idea that hunting is terrible and there's never an excuse to kill an animal. Quite cowardly if you ask me, considering they have no problem paying for meat that someone else killed for them.

not sure if you seen this posted b4 on this site. (i use to work with her... and i am the one that she talk about. )

To be perfectly frank, and I think I have said this before, I would probably be vegetarian if I had to catch my supper instead of aquiring it at Safeway. I have gone through periods of my life, when I just can't stand the thought of eating meat, red meat especially. For no apparent reason either. I am in one right now. Sometimes it lasts 2 weeks, sometimes 2 years.

Take someone to the range, or arrange a tour at the butcher shop. That shut them up.

It helps if the rest of the people in your home don't gag every time you want to cook some wild game. I'm always cooking it for myself.

The best I've come up with is "so its only ok to eat animals you can pet? You can go to the field or farm and pet the chickens beef and pigs" it takes a lil convincing but once they agree its ok to eat domestic livestock I drop the line that shuts em up. "So do you have a dog?". Works everytime. Humans are predators the killer in us is the killer in them

Now you know where the term.......you can't fix stupid............could originate from.

That pretty much sums it up. If they were vegetarians, I could possibly have some respect for them, but as meat eaters, I could have no respect for them at all.
