Just curious.....apparently my R22/PSG-1 build doesn't qualify as it was moved....yet I see all kinds of posts here about krinkers.

Truth be told, the Krinker is nothing more than a 10/22 wearing AK-like furniture, where the R22 is a totally different ballgame. All machined aluminum, Modular, definite Black rifle looks, All AR 15 lower parts/hammer/trigger group/pistol grip and HK furniture, the ONLY .22 designed exclusively for high-cap mags....not exactly an average rimfire. If my R22 doesn't count I don't know what would. Hell, the thing cost more than my AR.....and hell, If I want to discuss which AR match trigger to put into the gun, should I post it in the rimfire forum? I don't think so.

Saying you cant post a .22 here because that is a "sporting round" is exactly the same as saying you have to post your 223 or .308 marked rifles (as opposed to 5.56/7.62) in "hunting and sporting arms" because those are "sporting rounds"...and there is a forum for those.

Am I missing something?

The Armi Jager AP74 is the only thing that came to mind .
 
OK, so in your opinion...what makes the AP74 "a black rifle", but the R22 isnt?

Hmmm...they both "look" like something else....and they both use AR 15 parts.....I'm seriously looking for opinions on this. I spent a ####load of time and a ####load of money building a rimfire black rifle, and two minutes after being posted here it gets moved to rimfire.

I posted here because I wanted the opinions of the black rifle crowd dammit.

Perhaps it is because the AP74 and other WW2 TRAINERS are just that. TRAINERS. Which would make them "variants" of a true black rifle. The R22 is neither a trainer or a black rifle. It is a rimfire rifle that has been dressed up cosmetically as a black rifle. That being said, the Krinker threads should also be moved.

You say you're looking for the opinions of the black rifle crowd. My quest is this: Why?? Does someone's opinion really matter that much? Does it matter if that opinion comes from someone who frequents the black rifle forum? Perhaps those from the black rifle forum don't wish to comment because they prefer black rifles instead of rimfires?

In my opinion your R22 looks great!

The reason I wanted opinions from the BR crowd was this: I have taken to building guns that we cant otherwise own (Dose anyone here have a PSG1?)

Their are others planned. Anyway, my question pertains more to what "makes" a black rifle.

(and BTW, the R22 was designed and marketed as a trainer. As you can see, the ergos are very close to a G3)

Look at the R22...bone stock, it looks the same as the one in my pic, only an MP5 stock and standard AR ergo grip are used, so:

We have a Semi-auto, modular, all aluminum, proprietary manufacture,pistol gripped high capacity rifle thast makes soccer moms faint...a better question is why isn't it a black rifle?

Saw the photos of your rifle in the rimfire forum. Would have seen them in the black rifle forum. Interesting project. Thanks for posting the photos. Incidentally, it is not the only .22 originally designed for high capacity magazines.
 
I saw that thread this morning and it did not seem out of place. Maybe the mods are afraid that every tapco stocked 10/22 build will end up in the black rifle forum.
"Black rifle" Has a pretty user determined connotation. Maybe if you say the rate of twist was chossen to stabilize the 60 grain sub sonic round it would qualify as a black rifle.LOL.
IMHO your build should be a welcome and interesting black rifle thread.

Why is how a website categorizes your rifle for the purposes of forum discussion so important to you?

I can understand you wanting to share your work with others, but whether that takes place within 'Black and Green Rifles' or 'Rimfire' shouldn't make the 'sharing' any less satisfying.

You have a nice rifle ...shoot it ...enjoy it :cool: !

Thanks for the compliment. And to be honest, it's not that important....what is pissing me off is the fact that it was moved. The mod felt it didn't belong, so he just arbitrarily moved it...I disagreed with his opinion...it still hasn't moved back. I'm just curious to see what the other members think.

Besides, I spent way to much time and $ on this build to have it grouped with 10/22's...the thing cost more than my AR's. :redface:

As for your question about specially designed "real black" rimfires, please google "American 180".
Well, maybe some Calico's were also designed with that "black rifle " bullshyte in mind.
All of these are prohib by name in Canada, AFAIK, but don't be sad, because they didn't receive very good reviews.

Personally, I wouldn't look at it quite that way. The $$$$ that you invested in your rifle is no less significant than the $$$ that someone on a tight budget might have put into an off-the-rack 10/22 (and those folks are no less proud of their rifles than you are of yours). It's all relative to the budget of the individual gun owner.

There's a lot of other expensive .22's featured in the 'Rimfire' forums ...there's certainly no 'stigma' attached to having your rifle featured there.

Arrrgh, you beat me to it!

Did you score a stock converter from rhineland?
Is it a real PSG-1 stock?
Did you get a new barrel made?

My build was much simpler but Im sure the results will not match yours.
 
Black or not it still looks sweet. Nice work on the rifle.

PS. Next time don't tell anyone what caliber it is and see if anyone notices. ;)
