Does he actually eat them? I have shot lots of magpies and nothing seems to eat them except #### beatles. They will lay for weeks and nothing even drags them away.

Ravens IMO are worse than crows as they can take larger birds and animals (including lambs). I shoot them whenever opportunity and location permits.

Be thankful for them. They stomaches can digest a helluva a lot and they do a very good job at cleaning up.

Its why they are protected!
 
A crow hops....a raven walks.

Somethin my bro-in-law told me years ago.

He has been known for his BS now and then but this has always stuck in my head.

Good piece of advice. Although I rarely see a Raven around here walking on the ground. It's more so Crows.

It is also to my understanding that Crows arn't open season all year round in certain parts of Ontario "my neck of the woods for example"

Anyone know if that is true? if so, which parts of Ontario?

I am thinking on getting into Crow hunting. Just for the simple fact that they are little ####head evil zombies with wings :D
 
Yeah I see crows walking all the time, I hunt crows every now and then, its a good challenge.
Very smart birds, and I stress very.

Anyone ever eat crow stew, its actually pretty tasty. Fun to play a joke on your buddies to, they think its chicken until you tell them :).

I live quite far in the woods so the crows dont feed as heavily on garbage ect.
 
As mentioned earlier, regardless of crow or raven, be aware of West Nile virus, and don't touch.
I found the first West Nile kill in the Lindsay area some years back. The bird had been acting strangely and the next day was dead. I turned it in to the local health unit. (They came and got it) The test was positive for West Nile.
