Hello everyone
i have a isreal mauser that as been drilled and taped on the side of the reciver right where mod 98 would normaly be but in this case chechsolivika is stamped there i am wondering if this could have been an ex isralie sniper rifle ,and what kind of mount was used by the isralies on the k98 rifle

FASTEST and EASIEST way to mount a scope on your rifle is to go with a Long Eye Relief (LER) scope and either a B-Square or an S&K Insta-Mount. Personally, I prefer the S&K.

These mounts replace the rear-sight leaf of your rifle in just a few minutes; the rear-sight leaf just pops right out when you know how to do it. Then you mount the scope-mount, attach your rings and scope, sight-in the scope and you're ready to go blast Mister MOOOOse.

The mount is expensive, yes, but you can put it on by yourself in a few minutes. You don't need a gunsmith. And you can move the mount, scope and all, over to another rifle, any time you want to at all. If you have the rifle drilled and tapped, it will cost you just as much as the no-gunsmith mount.... and you can't shift drilled-and-tapped holes around from rifle to rifle.

The mount for the 98 fits something like 50 different models of rifle, all built on the original 1898 action; your Israeli is one of these.

I know that MilArm in Edmonton usually has these in stock and I see that TRADEX in Montreal (tan button at the top of this page) has one in stock right now at $32.50, which is just over HALF of what a drill-and-tap job would cost. Their service is fast and friendly.

Have fun with the Israeli 98!

the rifle is allready drilled and taped on the side of the reciver i am trying to find out for what type of scope mount ,if it was driled by the isreales or a bubba job

If its DT'd on the side its for an long side rail mount.
As previously mentioned the ISRAELI rifles used top mount scopes and finding an actual ISRAELI mount is next to impossible and would involve drilling the top of the receiver. However it is likely possible that side mounts were used early on by the IDF.
Bubba does not usually go for side mounts as he likes his weaver bases although with Bubba anything is possible (pics would help). If its a CZECH receiver I doubt it was done by them or the Germans. You can pick up a good repro LSR mount from Accumounts.

the holes are drilled 19mm apart there are 3 of them in total they are in a streight line where as the long side rail mounts are stagered and the stock whould have to be cut for them . the stock on mine isnt cut so it must be a different type side mount its a mystery
