I wasn't sure if I was going to like this rifle, but it was a surprisingly large amount of fun. Skipping bullets off the water with it to hit my target was lots of fun too. ;-)

Got one..... Several thousand rounds through it, it's a keeper. Mega fun, few if any failures, can't remember last time I had a problem firing. Mags are best to load I've found anywhere.

I have the Anschutz version.
And the sights do come with the gun. Also, the charging handle is removable and can be repositioned to three different spots on either the right or left.

Love mine.....accurate as hell with a 4 power fixed tactical scope....feeds everything well except Winchester bulk 222, 333, 555. with cci minimags there are no ftf or fte.

I dumped a few hundred 333's through my Anschutz the other day with no provoke. Which is good since Walmart sells them for $21 a box

I had a gen 1 that was absolutely useless. Sent it to North Sylva for the upgrade, and now it's absolutely fantastic. As reliable as my 10/22 and as stated, surprisingly accurate even with just a red dot on it. Never thought I would love this rifle after my first impressions.

My Anschutz version is a lemon. Getting some new bolt carrier screws from rrages so that I can take down the bolt myself. I find that after about 200 rounds it's hit or miss as to whether or not it'll function properly and therefore needs to be cleaned. Wish someone would design a way simpler bolt/carrier for this gun. Would solve most of its problems for good.

Do you take apart the bolt to clean it? Or just leave it in the bolt carrier?

I had that thing apart so many times trying to fix the light primer strikes I can almost do it in my sleep, but yeah I take it apart to clean the bolt. Like my 10/22 I factor in cleaning around 400 rounds usually, unless it's having feeding issues. I have a Remington 597 that clogs up around the 200 round mark though, and it's a bit of a pain to break down too...

We'll be putting several hundred more rounds down my Anschutz on Saturday. I'll report back and let you know how it goes. Will also be taking it down after and giving it a thorough cleaning. What all did you use to clean yours?

Usually use some sort of gun solvent to clean the bolt and breech face (with a nylon brush etc) and then a bit of oil to lubricate the moving parts in the bolt carrier. I have some foaming barrel cleaner (wipeout?) that works well enough. Going to take down my bolt to give it a better clean once i get these better screws for the carrier. The ones that come with the rifle are cheap and easy to strip regardless of whether or not it's an Anschutz or ISSC.

I have to agree about the screws...are there aftermarkets available or are you thinking of just matching them up at a fastener specialty store?

I ordered both the pushpins that keep the upper and lower as well as the screw set.. from

h ttp://rrages.com/root/screw/index.htm

I emailed them before hand to ensure that they would send to Canada as they are an american company.

I used to have an MK22 (newer rear bolt design), loved the gun but the design is horrid...

Some of my bolt carrier screws were stripped before i even disassembled it. I got replacements and used blue loctite as a precaution so they wouldn't come loose. I also picked up replacement machine screws from Lowe's for the rails as they stripped as well but they were pan heads not flat.

Not sure why they used machine screws for everything as they strip really easy and that clam shell bolt is not fun to disassemble lol.

Aye. Totally agree. Fun gun when it runs. Good ergomomics but using screws and too much cheap metal to hold the gun together was really stupid. If they had thought it through they probably could have made the thing much simpler and easier to take down. Might have costed a bit more to produce but would have saved them in assembly and warranty.

Tanks for the tip, I think I'll do the same, did any of the new parts not fit out-of-the-box?

I just got the screw set and there are a bunch of screws that seem to not fit my rifle (probably ones specific to the gsg5). However, there are 5 screws for the bolt carrier complete with bolts. There are also three screws the bolt jacket that attaches right onto the bolt, but they are of a much shorter length than the ones that are on the rifle so i'm not sure if I will use them. All in all, i think if you can source your own screws/bolts from a store here in Canada it might be cheaper.

However, I highly recommend the push pins, its much easier to take down the rifle and you won't be worried about stripping those stupid flat head screws used to secure the lower and the upper.

Edit: just put took down and put together my bolt w/ the new screws. The bolt jacket screws are perfectly fine. Fingers crossed that all will function well :)

Hey guys. New to the group. Got an ISSC the other day second hand, looks like it's never been cleaned. Shoots like a dream, obviously the odd FTE but other than that not much. Pulled it apart and scrubbed the crud out of it.
Having an issue with the bolt lock, when the mag is empty the bolt/charging handle fails to lock open. Found the pivoting arm in the mag well and it works, just not sure if the problem is the chaser on the mag or the pivoting arm itself.

If you're having issues with the bolt not staying open on a empty magazine, take apart the magazine and give it a good clean. You just need a t10 and a t6 head to take apart the magazine.
