I'd say that's a good bet.
Look at the rear of the receiver. It has a convex dual angle, like the Chinese MAK milled angle cut receiver.
Alternate money is on a Rusky Type-2. I cant think of another with that angled cut on the rear of the receiver.

Could also be a North Korean, very popular in Somalia, Eritrea and other parts of Africa, mostly because (get this) they're more reliable (no seriously, folks over there swear by North Korean AK's and even charge more for them). They pretty much look like crap though.
They make the SA80 look like a Porsche.
Curious as to the frame of reference behind your statement. Have you test fired and/or handled both extensively in the environment that they are designed to perform in to make such an observation ?
I've never handled an INSAS myself, but I've read some reliable reviews and heard from others with first hand knowledge I trust.
It's not a big secret that they are garbage.
Interesting you would be so quick to form an opinion based on "reliable" reports and "no big secret" heresay propagated by armchair generals ruling the intertubes.
I have, in fact, handled and shot the rifle extensively and barring the odd fit and finish issues (including the icky plastic furniture) would be very hesitant to be calling them, as you so charitably put it, "garbage". They are not the finest rifles in the world, but they are incredibly rugged and reliable.
They perform exceptionally well in the extreme Himalayan cold and in the scorching heat of the desert - two regions of the country they were specifically designed to perform in and are, unlike many of the precious jewels that we play with in Canada, battle proven (Kargil in 1999 anyone?).
Additionally, because they have earned the trust and respect of the IA after extensive competitive trials (held over a decade I might add) and through combat experience, have replaced the L1A1s, VZs and AKs in front-line service. No mean feat for *one* rifle to equip one of the largest standing armies in the world. I suppose the entire defence establishment of the country must have been grossly misinformed to come to such a shocking conclusion! Perhaps they should simply RSS feed to your "reliable" review's blogs and be done with the nonsense of objectively and thoroughly testing the firearm to meet their operational needs.
But I suppose researching and forming an informed opinion is harder than "borrowing" one and claiming it to be your own. So typical of most of the comments these days. Carry on!
this is lost on the "armchair generals", less you have used one in the thar dessert and siachin glacier (where btw the first generation mags did have a problems) stop pretending... i have lost relatives in some of these wars and believe you me INSAS is a nice cross between an AK and a Galil
