Hello,
I just got the brand new VZ 58 and shot it for the first time today. Every second or third shot I am getting failure to load (Pictures below). I tried VZ and CZ magazines and 3 different kinds of ammo. All together I fired 27 rounds and I had 7 failures to load, 2 failures to eject and 1 pipe. When it fails to load it really getting stuck there.
I am really confused here. Does anybody have any idea what could it be? Buddy of mine just got one too. No problems.

Does this only happen on the first round you chamber?

Did you fully clean your rifle before shooting it?

Look at the mag release and compare it's position when you try different mags. The Wolverine "torture test" rifle did not accept every mag tried in it. The mag release may not be in it's "fully locked" position with all mags. It's seems to be small differences between the CZ and CSA mag releases that caused the failures to feed during that test.

Thanks Stevo.
It did happened 4 times on the first round. But other times it was second or third.
I did not clean it before I shot it for the first time. But I did clean it this afternoon before I shot it again. Did not make a difference.
I thought about mags as well, but I only have 4 I can try. Plus how does it explain failure to eject?
Thanks.

Number your mags so you can keep track of which ones you're using when you get the failure-to-feed. If they're all bad, see if you can find someone to borrow some from.

The mags don't explain the stove pipe. Was it still stovepiping when you shot it today?

How is your rifle lubricated? Grease or oil? The torture test carbine ran better on grease.

Thanks again Stevo.
The stovepipe happened once this morning.
The gun is oiled, but I also shot it inside. So I guess it should be fine then?
Thanks for the advice on mags. Will do.

Try polishing the feed ramp and the chamber. Then cycle the action with the spent rounds. If there still is feeding issue's with it afterwards post back. Also what is the model name on this rifle?

Looks like your using brass cased ammo,I had a he'll of a time with brass in both VZs that I had. Also my mags had very sharp lips which marred the cases upon feeding giving the same results as you have. What ammo types were you using?

I used Prvi Partizan SP( on the picture ) and Czech surplus. I also noticed when brass is extracted it looks heavily damaged with deep grooves. Is it normal for brass in those guns?
I just cleaned my VZ and tried 4 different mags. It fails to feed every time. I tried maybe 35 times. What a possibility for all 4 mags to fail?

How did you fix your problem? Did you switch to surplus?

try running alot more steel surplus through it. the machined edges on the mags and rifle may be too sharp and drag too heavy on the brass.

This is the route I decided on.Frustrating and time consuming but probably the best thing to do.Also don't ride the bolt, pull it all the way back and let it slam home, mine would always jam if I didn't.Lastly keep your chamber as clean as possible using acetone and a .410 brass brush and mop and use these only on that rifle so you don't transfer any salts so another firearm.

Sounds like you had a similar problem.
To be honest I am disappointed with my VZ because of it. Definitely not the best thousand bucks I spent on guns.

Wow Am I ever glad I got a cz 858 and not these newer gun! suck for you my friend. As previously said don't ever ride the bolt just pull it back and let it got. as for the oil vs. grease, I feel stupid here :s , but you mean you put grease in between the carrier assembly and recever?... I use to only put a drop or two of hope lube. Is that bad?

Loosing faith in humanity one post at a time.

Instead of messing with it may I suggest sending to Wolfgang at Wolverine Supplies and I would bet he would fix it up and ship it back to you in a hurry.
