Issues extracting live rounds from 10/22

What if you were at a mall? Inside your car? Thousands of other senarios...

If you had just pulled the trigger on a live round how are you extracting a live round?

My apologies I assumed anyone using a firearm would have taken and passed a pal course and or hunter safety. There would not be careless stupid people at the mall or in their car with a loaded firearm

Only place you should have a loaded firearm is a place where it's safe to discharge it. IE: a shooting range , or your out hunting or plinking. Your finished shooting , out comes the magazine , you visually and manually check the chamber , still loaded . Won't extract, round is discharged in a safe manner. Chamber is checked again and verified empty.

Or you extract the loaded round with a knife or cleaning rod , and again verify the chamber is empty.

Chamber a round. Remove it from the chamber, with rod if necessary. Inspect to see if the rifling has engraved the bullet. If so, that is a contributing factor.
There are suggestions about how to enhance the function of the extractor. Worth trying.

Before hacking the gun and change part - test with different ammo on a clean chamber.
22 semis are noterious to be finicky with some ammo, even so if that chamber is tight. It’s a matter of dimensions. If the gun is doing it with any ammo..then time to change extractor but this might not be a fix if it’s chamber related.

Don't be too hard on gunteck. He's a retired gunsmith and may be suffering from lead poisoning. Obviously he didn't read your post correctly. He didn't see that you said "or" .
It's a common thing on this site for people to read and not comprehend.

One of CGN rule is not yo derail treads. This is forgotten and many just let their fingers take over their brain. It should be enforced by CGN but it is not. Unfortunate. Everybody should stick to te tread and stop wandering on anything but.

You would enjoy the comments section of the CBC. Very well regulated, no wrong think allowed!

And I am sure you like the Jackass movies..chaos and stupidity reigning supreme.
I'm not sure of much anymore, but I do know that your assumption is wrong.
I'm not really a fan of jackassery or Jerry Springer..... but there's no denying it's popular to many along with reality TV shows and housewives of where ever..... :)

I wish the only problem we had today was one of intelligence, many seem quick to assume those that disagree or think differently are stupid.

If you were sticking to the topic raised and provide useful answers to whom need help -you will not have to questions your intelligence or anything else. One thing is sure - not answering the poster and wandering off topic is not smart.

If chambering a round and opening the bolt doesn't extract, as others have said, you've likely got a shortish and/or very tight chamber. When you DO get the round out (either via a rod down the barrel or the tip of a knife to pry it out), if the bullet has rifling cut onto it, it's the tight chamber... That's all aimed at making ignition, pressure, and accuracy more consistent because the bullet isn't rattling around in the chamber. as said by others, try sharpening the extractor. Or (maybe) don't load it unless you're going to shoot it.

I did answer the poster, and was on topic until your post took things in a different direction...... now I'm responding to your dictate.

Wandering off topic often happens after the topic has been discussed for a while and starts to get repetitive.... not sure a whole lot more can be added until we hear back from the OP on the several different good options and opinions that have been provided.

I looked up the barrel you have and it has a Bentz chamber. I bought a Dlask barrel with a Bentz chamber for my 10/22 and the tolerances were tight. I could not eject live rounds even after getting a better extractor. I had to frequently give the chamber I good cleaning by removing the barrel. Although the accuracy was impressive I had Dlask open up the chamber a bit and I have no more issues.
