Italian Navy No4's alert and a sad story

The Sad

When I asked to have a look at a few examples he said they're no longer available as he used them as rebar in the concrete floor exansion to their facility about 10 years ago. I find it absolutely incredulous that people like this can be employed in the firearms industry. This would have given every Canadian Ranger in Canada a new barrel and conceivably would have brought his company in the neighborhood of $200,000 profit. I feel ill just thinking about it.

Used to be very common, a whole lot of gatling gun barrels were salvaged and put to use about 30 years ago. The story was that they had been used as rebar back in the 50s...

there just rebar now ,when the registry started here ,Milarm crushed about 300 or 400 rifles ,his idea was that it was to costly to spend the time to register them..

Ah yesss, Edna Parker, who's favourite quote was "It's a hard business and I'm only a woman" We should have sent her to the gulf, sadass would have wet his pants.

I had ordered some parts from her, and after several months I was informed that she was holding the order for just one more part. By that Time, I had visited a friend in the U.K. and picked up the parts in question, Of course since I picked them up from her shop instead of her mailing them, she charged me VAT.

Whatever the economics only a retard would use gun barrels for rebar. The idea is to hold the concrete together, gun barrels are too short. Those Italian Navy enfields couldn't have seen much use, even in WW2 all they did was swim around in the Mediterranean.

Depends on how long the critter is. When Globe built their Ottawa building, they are said to have used MARTINIS for rebar.

At that time, Martinis were selling, retail, for about $15. But when you have 10,000 of them that you got for peanuts and the market is finite and real rebar costs MONEY.... well, you can always destroy a few thousand.... keeps the available quantity down... keeps the prices up.... do it the right way and you make more MONEY from selling a dozen than you do from selling a hundred.... pure economics.

B^%%%$$#s!

Give some of these clowns half a chance and they would buy the last 12 Spencers in the world... and then torch 8 of them to keep the prices up on the remaining 4!

Honest business is one thing, plain stinking greed is something else. Some people can't be bothered sorting out the difference.

Think on this one for a minute.... If I were to GIVE 3,000 in-the-white Number 4 barrels and a like number of Number 1 barrels, to your favourite Dealer..... how much do you think your favourite Dealer would try to sell them to YOU for? Remember: he knows that HE has them ALL.

Ethics on one side, Marketing 130 on the other side, but some folks like to look at themselves in a mirror without barfing. So where does it get us?

You make up YOUR mind. I already KNOW what's right.... which is why I will never be rich.

Having done some concrete work in my early years, and knowing that rifle barrels are not re-bar. I can only hope that these companies suffered further costs down the road due to being cheap and greasy.

The Sad

I was talking to the owner of Henry Krank about the availability of replacement lee enfield barrels. He advised me that he had 3000 brand new (in the white) No4Mk1 BARRELS in stock (three of four pallet loads which he got for a song and a dance). I just about had a heart attack right there on the spot.

He probably thought to himself "I wonder how gullible this Yank is " and you bought it hook line and sinker:D

Vey possible. It was assumed that I was from the US every time I opened my trap. Regardless I politely corrected them each and every time with one exception. A middle aged woman in a pub that appeared much older than her actual years as she chain smoked one cigarette after the other.

She spoke with a broad Yorkshire accent and I had difficulty understanding her. She would not believe I was Canadian even after I gave her a Canada pin. Oh well.....
