Has anyone here seen one for sale/sold recently? This one is available for sale, pics sent to me by current owner. Not sure if he bought it here on cgn, for all I know the pics might be from the previous owner who could be a member here.

I know a "what's it worth" question is hokey, and more so when it doesn't include the opportunity for a hands-on inspection. Just looking for feedback as a starting point. Any insight appreciated.

I use to own one, could be this one, sold it under a thousand, probably worth $700-$800 max.

One thing for sure is that he cannot export it to the US, he has to sell it in Canada.

In the US it goes for a few thousands, here in Canada not so .....

It's 20 ga, 2.5'' shell .

I've wanted one of these ever since I first heard about them, but I have never seen one for sale in Canada.

These are so uncommon in Canada that - to determine the correct 'fair' price - it really should be sold at auction.

If you can acquire this from it's current owner for $2000., I think you'd have to be crazy not to buy it.

as to the restricted status i am curious if it is classed as a restricted shotgun or is it classed as a handgun. i have seen similar guns classed both ways. once a handgun always a handgun, but some restricted shotguns can be got out of the restricted class by changing the furniture. as for price i am thinking high. like three to five thousand.buy it . i doubt you will get another chance. i passed on one a number of years ago and have been kicking myself ever since.

I like it, and if he had told me a few years ago that he wanted to sell it it would now be mine. Currently though I'm trying to eliminate the majority of my restricted firearms. I don't see a positive outlook for restricted owners, and I've had my fun with looking for old/odd/unusual pistols etc. I have too much tied up in restricted firearms that I never shoot (many I've never fired even once).

I'm not getting rid of everything, but its time to pare things down a bit.

I don't see the point of converting something like this back to NR, a person could just buy a NR Ithaca, no? Other than maybe just to save it from its current status I suppose. But I'm not enough of a philanthropist to be a savior to all firearms. It would also be infinitely less interesting as a NR sxs, at least to me.

I understand that the auto & burglar is not for everyone, that is why I say that - in Canada - it's true monetary value can be determined only by a well-advertised and well-conducted auction.

I'd bid on it; my bid probably wouldn't be high enough to be the willing bid, but I'd bid on it.

Uncommon, yes.

I disagree with the above who posted they do not command American prices. I would beg to differ.

Rare is rare, haven’t seen any others in person, other than mine of of course. Pretty cool piece of history.

I saw a pair of them at Ad Hominem back in the '90s, one in the usual 20 ga and one in .410. The owner claimed the .410 had been custom made for the president of Ithaca Gun and it was the only one in the world. Does anybody know if that story could have been true? Even if I could remember the prices, they wouldn't mean much now, but I do remember that the .410 was several times the price of the 20, and the 20 was way out of my price range.
