Can anyone give me an approximate value for an Ithaca DSPS with nickel finish. It's in good condition and was produced in 1978.

Thanks

If you want to shoot, just buy another piece. If you want to collect....buy, because the DSPS in 'Marine Coat' is a unicorn. Or get it, and sell direct to me at a steep discount, because unicorns aren't real. Haha

Picked it up this morning and it now rests in my safe till the next range day! If it's fun to shoot I will keep, if not up for sale it goes.

No fun at all. Haha. I love 37's more than just about everything. Still sad I missed out on that one at auction, but the guy really seemed to have wanted it. Enjoy!

I'm guessing it's going to be an 8-shot. He likely wouldn't have known DSPS without the tag, as few Riots were produced in Marine Coat. But yes, pics are a must :)

Yes it is marked DS police special and it has the nickel finish. It holds 7 rounds in the magazine and 1 in the chamber.

Bumping this thread on the recommendation of gwhysow. I've been in the market for a DSPS for a month or two but it seems there are not too many selling currently. My preference is for a parkerized 5-shot but I'm flexible. Hopefully this gets the attention of some owners (already have a WTB add).

Just for fun, here is my current Ithaca line-up:

1951 12ga Featherlight 28" full choke
1978 12ga Featherlight 28" modified choke vent rib and ray-bar
2018 20ga Derrslayer II 24" rifled w/ Leupold VX-Hog

Got a great late 80's 8-shot not too long ago from the fine folks on here. Not mine, but a solid reference.

Anyone else with some DSPS or M&P Love?

You can order a new Defense model customized with rifle sights and a Parkerized finish if you don't mind spending a bit of money.

Though I'd personally rather stay with the standard nitride finish, which more or less looks like oiled Parkerizing.

The only issue with going this route is that the standard Defense model wood is pretty utilitarian compared to most of the vintage DSPS', but you can specify fancier wood if you want.

Bought a new Deerslayer 2 last year and dealing with Ithaca was not the easiest as there were some problems with the wood on it. I purchased it through ###### armoury and they were very helpful but Ithaca themselves were less than helpful. Not particularly keen to buy another new one with the customer service for Canadians being less than desirable.

I didn't even know they had ramped up custom orders. I've held a few of the newer defense models (when first re-released), and they weren't quite the same. Still stand by those glass-action classics.

Question is: where have they all disappeared to? I've only seen 5 or so true DSPS models for sale the past 5 years or so, and one was a marine coat model.

Which one of you buggers is hoarding them. Hahaha
