Well that's got to be late breaking news if true.
I was in there ten days ago, drooling over an M37 in 28 gauge with a friend. And I still see Ithaca shotguns on thier linked homepage.

Exactly who/where did you get this information that they will no longer bring in these shotguns?
 
Ithaca Model 37 defense

I ended up buying a model 37 defence 5 shot (one of the last ones) from prophet river a couple of weeks ago for a home defense shotgun. Its a nice looking shotgun until you go to shot it. Half the time it wouldnt fire because the fore end release wouldnt lock and the other half of the time it would slam fire but without the trigger pulled. (dangerous!!!!) I hope I can get some warranty????
 
I believe Ithaca offers one, basically a magazine tube clamp.

I have stumbled across another alternative but they're no longer made. GG&G used to make a front sling loop for the Mossberg 500. It's very similar to the barrel support found on typical 37s (ie, not Defense) but with the addition of a sling loop on the left side. Fits perfectly on the 37 but I can't find anymore of them since they "upgraded" to a newer design. I'd think that using an old 37 barrel support and having a thick gauge wire loop welded to it would be a reasonably cheap option.

UPDATE:
I had sent this shotgun for the above warranty work in September 2011. Its March and I still haven't got it back. Gunsmith says they are having trouble getting parts from Ithaca. This will be the last Ithaca I buy.

We are the Canadian distributor, which is why your gunsmith is having problems, he hasn't contacted me ;)
