Could anyone please confirm if the shotguns are actually equipped with the deeply curved grip or is that just the image(s) that make it seem as such?

Moreover, does Ithaca pump offer the simplicity of unloading the mag tube similar to what is found on the Browning BPS?

Thanks,

Don't know about grip, but if it's maintained the older mechanics the mag. tube can be unloaded with the right hand fingers by reaching into the ejection/load port and pressing on the shell retainer lever. all the best art.h

i shot the new deer slayers 3 in 20g with fulted barrel wow what a great shot gun three shot gruops were touching at 100 yards .it felt great and i love the pitol grip .i would have one in a sec if it were not just over a grand DUTCH

They are weird looking grips.

They should offer a 20g with a 24" bbl and a straight stock. I always thought Remington should offer the 870 smaller gauge guns in a 24" bbl as well.

.

I believe that Ithaca offers the English stock on special order?

What I would like to see is an Upland pump in 20ga (at least) that would incorporate features such as a tang safety, mag tube unload feature, straight grip etc (from Browning), slim fore end (from Ithaca) and with an option of 24/26 bbls - in a 6lbs to 6.25lbs weight package. :)

IMHO, as far as current production compact Upland pump gun is concerned, the 20ga BPS Upland Spl has everything going for that except for the inherent weight....

I contacted Remington and asked why they don't offer 24/26" bbls on their 20ga 870s. Seems to me that a 28" is more of a waterfowl gun which a 20ga isn't. I got some dumb reply and the feeling I would rather spend my $$ elsewhere.

I was very interested in the 28ga but the pistol grip design threw me off. Perhaps it may not look so awful if seen in person.

That type of grip may look better on something such as a Browning 30 Cal :D

Do they not offer the 20 with 26in bbls as well?

Few months ago I sold a 28ga 870 Wingmaster with 25in bbls in Exc condition and have since then regretted the act. It was a 90s production firearm with a super smooth action, engraved receiver, Briley tubes and threw excellent patterns with the Mod and IC chokes.

They were available in the 80's for sure. I have 21, 23 and 26 inch barrels for my LW 20ga 870's. One was a DU gun but I don't think that made a difference

I have not held a new ithaca 28ga so far but know the boys on the 28ga society site have nothing but good words for them. Epps has sold probally six or more since taking them on some with the AAA wood and I think Clay has sold a batch also.
1000 for a pump is hard for me to justify when I still have my batch of 28ga wingmasters.
By far my favorite upland gun, especially the later one I bought with the choke tubes. Same as the one you sold on this site Ahsan

Yes they do, but a 24" 870 would be closer to the OAL of a 26" SxS.

.

Individual opinions may vary, however, I concur absolutely if the shotgun is to be used in the thick bush for birds such as Grouse/Woodcock. Personally, I find 45-47 inches OAL as optimum for such scenario.

Which is the point I tried to convey to remington that 24/26" offering would make more sense in a 20ga.

That's very true despite the quality.

May not be entirely out of place to mention, very recently, I was highly tempted to trade in a couple of 12ga sxs for a Benelli Legacy 28ga. Initially, I was quite skeptical given its advertised weight but changed my mind promptly when I had an opportunity to handle the semi-auto in person. Benelli offers a great sub gauge semi-auto in the form of the 28ga Legacy (read the 26in bbl version).

Having said that, IMO, the price tag is a bit too much for a semi-auto despite the quality and I'd much rather spend that kind of money on a quality O/U in that range.

That is a schwack of drop on that comb and a wierd looking grip. Some of it may be the photo but it still appears oddly shaped. And the price is way off the charts. I've got a 37 and I won't be upgrading to a "New" 37 anytime soon.

X2 At prices near or around $1000 money could be used else where. Your getting into Semi Auto or used O/U territory.
