Actually though I've got my Savage up to 2600 fps with 250s and 72 grains of H4198

If I can carry a centerfire, chances are it will have a muzzle velocity of from 3000 to 3500 fps.

Just to address the 2 highlighted portions;

I have shot 2 steinbuck that might weigh 20 pounds give or take a pound. The giraffe in my avatar is the size of 2 large buffalo bulls. As far as I know they are the largest hooved mammal. Hippos, white rhino and elephants are bigger, but hoofless. Black rhino are smaller.

You do know that Savage muzzleloaders can take smokeless powder? There are many pressure tested loads that aren't in the manual, and groups dedicated to getting all the performance that they can out of the smokeless muzzleloaders.

back in saskatchewan my father fed us on a model 94 in 32 special great for bush hunting and trapping. allthough I do prefer my 99 in 300 but thats just personal prefrence
