It's Another "Spend My Money Thread"

Slimbo believe it or not, that is the "something I have in mind". Torn between that and a Zastava in 8x57, stoked with 220 grain woodleighs. The user above who posted at the same time as me may be a mind reader

Fools seldom differ!

No flies on the 8x57, that's for sure. I just prefer the 7mm. The 700 classics are really nice rifles too.

C-FBMI thanks for taking the time to craft that response.

I appreciate the range offer, I'm equidistant from Whitehorse and Boswell, when/where are we going shooting? :D

The ones I find really interesting on that list are the 8x57 Remington and the 358 win model 7. Is the second one a factory option?

This thread keeps reminding me I need to play with the 35 whelen, 9.3x62 and .375 H&H...

Sorry I missed this first time around..........No it's not, I bought it from Ted (Why Not?), he has had several made up over the years. This one is one of the old original Mod 7s with the funky flipped down forend tip and he had a 20" barrel installed instead of the original 18". Number 2 son has glombed onto it and according to him it's his hunting rifle.

I know it doesn't fit in between your existing stuff. But a ruger#1 in 9.3x74R is a cool unit in a classy gun.
There are a few bolt guns in 280 on the ee right now cant go wrong with a 280. Just different enough and works like a hot damb

Too pretty for a scope.

I will be buying an 8x57 Zastava I'm thinking, though that .358 is tempting. Not going to rush into this one, too many impulse purchases in the past.

Zastava listed the 8x57 JS in the M70PSS model but I've heard they no longer make stainless rifles which is too bad because these are real nice. I have a 308 M70PSS.

There’s a really nice FN Browning Safari in 30-06 on sale right now in the EE at a good price. They are great guns and if you don’t like it, you can always flip it for the same money you have into it. That should fit nicely in your collection.

For my money, I would buy one of the stellar Akah or similiar 8x57 sporters with double triggers and claw-mounted scopes that TradEx has at the moment. Light and handy, heavy bullets, plenty enough power for a 250-yard shot, with the ability to remove the scope for close shooting and remount in seconds. Seems to check all the boxes for what you're looking for.
