It's Not Just Eotechs.

You just quoted JTF2...

This. Also, for those people that keep quoting JTF2...Eotechs...blah...blah...blah, I know from a personal conversation with the now former CO of JTF2, that they were looking at replacing all of their Eotechs because of performance issues, back when this occurred in 2015.

And they didn't in conclusion..

Maybe you're right dude. Personally having did ranges and training with both DHTC and CSOR I noticed a lot of Eotechs but that's hardly proof of anything.

Agreed being SOF hardly makes someone infallible. That said I think the average guy there takes their job pretty seriously and has more than a passing interest in the kit they use.

I'm sure more SF dudes are more gear savvy than reg force guys, that still doesn't invalidate the data collected by the FBI, NSW Crane, and Eotech themselves. It's like these facts are falling on def ears or maybe just the fanboi crowd who doesn't want to admit they got swindled into buying one. Informal range sessions mean nothing, and I've said it before that perhaps for some the negatives aren't a serious enough issue to warrant changing optics for the intended mission/role. Again, that still does not invalidate the data collected by the FBI, NSW Crane or Eotech.. Some here seem to think they know more than the three entities listed which is comical at best. With the quotes below it seems like there's more than enough evidence and testing to confirm that the sights are in fact defective.

Cool you spent a decade in the army, sorry but that doesnt mean you automatically get any credibility. I know some of Rich's background and he can share it with you if he wants.

And the CF tested them in a Lab to confirm. I have the documents.

Lots of the SF guys I have worked with don't understand rifles or optics. They have zero interest in them.

There are reasons for that. Eotechs being the best sight on the market, is not one of them.

Lots of folks in the industry seem to have the same opinion, some with evidence to support that Eotech sights are in fact defective..... WHO KNEW!

Data vs experience. Makes me think of the US Army going with the Sig over the Glock :) You're right though and great post. Maybe a middle ground is there is of course valid data that the sites ARE defective but in some or many cases not serious enough to warrant ditching the product? Under 100 meters accuracy is forgiven for speed so with someone using an eotech on a 10.5"/11.3" ish length rifle under 100 meters is the thermal drift an issue? I don't feel it is but I'm no SME. I'd mount one on my rifle again though in fairness probably not if it's an older model (I'm assuming they took steps to correct the problem? The price tag seems high not to have).

On the same topic, what type of underwear do CSOR guys wear? I would like to know since I would like to wear the same.

Just texted a couple buddies, they said they aren't wearing any right now.

Lets get something straight. Thermal drift is but ONE OF MANY ISSUES THE EOTECH SIGHT SUFFERS FROM. Not picking on you but I'm sick of hearing people parrot the same BS about "thermal drift" like it's the only issue.

Thermal drift
Failure to return to zero at any temp
Moisture incursion(not waterproof)
Inconsistent click values
Parallax at extreme temps(hence why there's no longer an operating temp range listed for Eotech sights)
Parasitic battery drain

These are the issue with Eotech sights. Thermal drift was simply the issue that got everyone's attention. Battery problems have been the norm since day one. The other issues were discovered when testing for thermal drift.

Ya okay. Which models ?

Didn't they? Maybe they got vortex uh1 instead... find out in the next episode of "i know sf and what they run"

Also did you know you are less likely to incur fatal injuries from petting arctic seals instead of navy seals?

Well something more relevant...
I have had EOTech repair a case of refraction grating delamination for me before... not sure how many folks here has experienced the same?
Just to be clear I’ve bought and sold multiple models of EOTechs, and my household still runs a well used one on a plinker, despite all the commotion.
