IWI Tavor 7

Let us know if you scored one painkillers. I’ve been in the market for one for a while, especially because it’s suitable for a lefty.

It’s either the Tavor, the RFB-C, or a Garand. I’m edging towards the Tavor because the RFB is difficult to clear if needed (odd design) & the Garand is hit or miss in terms of quality (pitting, gouges in woods, rust, etc.).

I did indeed, with thanks to Grain. I've also got a BLK LBL bipod front end coming for it...'cause she's goin' t' thump.

I debated long and hard as it's an expensive purchase, but I reasoned in my gun sick mind that I need a .308 in the line up and the Garand would have been retrofitted to that caliber. Putting aside tempering issues that the US government struggled with from the onset with those rifles in 30/06. The Tavor will also hold 10 rounds in a short pistol magazine, so two more than the Garand. Adjustable gas...the Tavor is a modern design. The only downside that I can rationalize is the weight. Once an optic is mounted, more than 10 lbs is anticipated. While 10 lbs doesn't sound like much, at the end of a day it is (hence the bipod being incorporated, or so my mind reasoned.).

I have .303 Br, in various Lee Enfield marks and look forward to some relatively cheap high power range time with .308 when comparing the shelf bought .303 is sometime $4 per as compared to less than $1.50 per with the .308.

I was also leaning into the Desert Tech Wolverine, but i believe they still have some bugs to work out of that platform. It's good, but it ain't perfect and in my mind, when spending this kind of money, it had better be perfect. For what it is, the Tavor SAR 7 is perfect.

I believe I got the second to last one in Canada, and I'm aware there was a line up behind me, so whether there are other dealers who have stock, idk? Suffice to say, when you come across one and can buy it, do so.

I can't speak to the RFB aside from to say that Kentucky Ballistic's "Kaboom'd" one intentionally and while the simulant came away relatively unscathed, I wasn't impressed with how that rifle came apart. The barrel was intentionally squibbed, the chamber intentionally over charged, but the gun was shredded, sh1t everywhere. I believe the Tavor would fair better if treated the same.

Sent you a pm to a dealer with a couple instock.

I also want to thank GRAIN who helped me as well. He not only responded within minutes, he also connected me to someone amazing that I was so happy to support but also get what I wanted (just waiting for it in the mail now). I have only been on this site for a few weeks, and I am so addicted to it but people like him make it even better.

Congratulations painkillers and kingfierce. Special thanks to Grain for helping out his fellow nut. My wallet is safe for now but I’ve been known to do foolish things, I’m not one to sit still lol.

Resurrect!!

Finally scored a Tavor 7 from one of the stocking dealers. Don’t have it in hand yet but I’m already dreaming about upgrades.

To the folks that have had it for a while: how do you like it? Any recommendations for upgrades? What would you do differently?

BLK LBL bipod
Rifle scope
Secondary sighting system of your choice
Muzzle device of your choice (I hear the stock one is ineffective and loud as fck.)
Sling
Mags
Ammo
Cleaning stuff.

Thanks Painkillers! Wow, that Blk LBL Bipod is crazy expensive at $600+ USD, I almost regret asking lol.

But it looks so hawt. Buy one, cry once, am I right?

Guess I’m good for almost everything else. Need a muzzle brake, sling point and perhaps more mags. I was also wondering about the trigger, need to see what upgrade options there are. How’s yours?

Trigger's mint. Better than the x95.

How is your accuracy? Are you attaining the fabled 1.5 MOA, or do we call "Bull-cr#p" on that particular claim? I've owned a Tavor 7 and never achieved better than 3 MOA 5-round groups with Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr and 175gr ammo. Perhaps I simply couldn't shoot the Tavor 7, although I've never experienced any other firearm that I could not master. The fact that I no longer own one tells you my personal verdict on the platform. Obviously, YMMV and I wish you every success with your Tavor. I'll be sticking with my APC308 until we get our ARs back, then my Colt USA LE-901 will once again stretch its 7.62x51mm sub-MOA legs....

Thanks Bartok5. I’m “jumping the gun” here as I don’t even have the Tavor in hand. Originally, I was attracted to the firearm because I’m a lefty and having a bullpup that doesn’t pose a risk is an exciting proposition. I’m not a fan of looks but I got bit by the 308 bug and went on a shopping spree. 3 Moa is decent; I’m not expecting sub.

Not sure if I’m going manticore or Blk lbl for a handguard. Maybe I’ll keep it stock. Triggers are important to me because I’ve yet to experience a great trigger on a rifle. Everything is “meh’, even CZ. Maybe I don’t know what I’m looking for…

I really do miss the AR. I red your write ups of the raven but I’m holding out for the Conservative win and repeal of the dumb OICs. I promise - day 1 - I’m buying two colts lol!!!

The Raven is a cope-AR until such time as our genuine ARs are freed for use once again. Anyone who doesn't realize that the Raven is dead in the market once the OIC is rescinded is not paying attention. Which is why I have limited my own exposure by sellling off my Platinum Raven in favour of the cheaper "Silver Edition" which is much more in line with Billet AR pricing at ~$1900. Time will tell the tale of the Raven, but if I were Lockhart Tactical I'd be making maximum sales now, while the getting is good....

Unless they repeal ARs alllll the way back to non-restricted status, there will be a place for the Raven as a non-restricted crown land and hunting blaster.
If I was doing either of those activities, I'd rather run a Raven with the .308 conversion than a Tavor 7.
Hopefully any repeal would ideally include the 102 clones.

That is precisely what I am expecting to happen with PP's adoption of the Simplified Classification System". AR15's with a Barrel length over 18.5" will be made NR if the system is applied objectively across the board...
