are these still legal in canada i'm confused by alot of posts i've read some say non restricted some say the RCMP came and confiscated all of them.. .


can someone clarify for me please,.. i dont see it listed on the list of prohibs on the rcmp website


if legal where can i find one? :)
 
yeah but it appears to be sold pending funds (i think thats what SPF stands for :)

sometimes i see prohibs on the EE as well so i wasn't quite sure
 
thanks already googled it, seemed to find mixed info on it hence my post
but i do enjoy those links that type things into the google search for you in an effort to be condescending
 
hey there was a point to your first post, i searched canadaammo and they actually sell tavors though a direct link or any kind of explanation would have been appreciated rather than a link to a site to search google for me than instructions to cick on a link that brings me to an online store with no apparent information on the topic..
 
No stock on Tavor, CanadaAmmo is the importer, I don't know if a new shipment is expected, contact them to find out.
They are also involved with importing the cannot get T97 rifle.

I had to read this 4 times and still don't understand.

Anyways, there are stickies on the top of this forum with tons of info on exactly what you are asking so I don't think you can blame us for not providing any info.

Anyways, buy a Tavor and piss off the liberals some more, thanks.

it was in refernce to darkwaters post that was a link that typed a search into google. if you click the link he posted it brings you to a google search then the first link is the main page of the canada ammo sight, Everyone else was very helpful, i find the "google it links" somewhat condesending especially when i stated in my first post that i had looked around and was just looking for clarification, the sticky was good but more nitty gritty than I was looking for (mostly maintanence and other stuff about tavors very good info just not the info i needed at the time) also that post was dated 2 years ago stuff on this site does tend to be kept current but i prefer to ask questions when i'm unsure than just assume
 
All bullpups are illegal. This gun doesn't exist.

yeah that was another thing contributing to my confusion i have read on a RCMP site somewhere that bullpups are evil and we can't have them..


my problem is i keep trying to see logic where there is only randomness :)
 
Canada ammo* is the only importer of the Tavor. The regular version of the Tavor is non-restricted and always has been. As of recently however, you can purchase an optional shorter barrel for the tavor which will make it restricted. Tavors are a hot ticket item, if you want one you will either have to wait for a new one or buy one off the EE.

The T97 has been on and is still on a legal rollercoaster; it is currently prohibited, and nobody is grandfathered for it regardless of whatever prohibited classes a person may already be allowed to own. They latest batch were non-restricted when they arrived in Canada, but someone thought they looked mean so they studied them for 18 months (if memory serves) and said that they could easily be converted into fully automatic, so the RCMP REclassified them as prohibited and asked everyone who already had one in their hands to surrender them - there is a court case pending on this right now.

Bullpups are fine unless:
-they are named as prohibited OR
-they originated as a non-bullpup firearm and were made into a 'bullpup' by means of a special stock, etc.

There, now you are up to speed as much as I am, so go buy a Tavor, buy a T-97 T-shirt# and hope for the best, and enjoy! You may also be interested in the FS2000 or the Kel-Tec RFB if you like .308 (I know I do), check them out.

OK, here is a basic explanation, as bull-pups are somewhat confusing unless you really read the regs a few times. In Genral, bull pups tthemselves are not prohibited. But their are a few exceptions.

All stocks that CONVERT a standard firearm into a bull-pup are prohibited, For example the SKS conversion stocks.

Rifles built as a bull-pup such as the tavor, or FS-2000 are not prohibited as the stock is a critical part ofthe firearm and cannot function without it.

The T-97 is prohibited as the RCMP have determined, without evidence, that that it is easily converted to full auto, thus classified as a fully automatic firearm. It has nothing to do with the bull-pup style, however the looks are the main reason why it was prohibited, just like many other prohibited rifles, they look too scary... Seriously this is why the FAL, the MP-5, the AK-47, ect are all prohibited by name.
