James Yeager AK vs AR vs AK

Meh so to sum it up having guns=good knowing how to shoot em=good and get what you can afford. Thanks for nothing max Payne tier1 uberleet tacticlols operator.

I don't know but he seems to stir up controversial videos. He must dislike critics because his comments are always off.

He just recently in the last few weeks turned them off. Mainly because every idiot was asking stupid question after question, when in every video he says he appreciates all the comments and questions but ask them through the forum of his site.

If you go into his forum he has no problem answering questions about anything and seems to love getting criticism from people too.

I like this guy a lot, he knows his **** and has been around the block.

The BEST part of JY is that he stirs up **** with controversial videos. A] its entertaining B] it makes people think. what was wrong with the 1911's suck video? I love shooting them but he's right as rain; a non custom 1911 will insert poop into bed in a stressful training environment. Glocks do not. Glock are nice and boring no surprises. Last night at training I saw the first round of a drill randomly eject the mag on a 1911. also it was the only necessary malf clearing in the last 2 months of training [besides a CZ].

It's not like he's lying. He's just trying to upset you. Maybe it makes you think. He didnt say they arent nicer to shoot or that they dont look nice.

I can understand his reasoning and I do like to watch his stuff, some stuff does make a lot of sense but he is not always right. As for the AK vs AR yes I think it makes a lot of sense. AR and AK is a moot point since most people will never be in a real combat situation passed 100 yards. As for the 1911 suck, its a yes and no, I had a para ord 40 cal (which he hates as well)and fired off close to 10k rounds through it and I had never an issue with it and I was doing IPSC training with that gun as well so I put almost 700 rounds in three days through it with out any malfunctions.

AR15.com is full of some real winners there, good god that thread is full of teenagers..

The guys that are slamming him are not all teenagers, the tanks next to their names means the site has vetted their credentials as having military service. He gets most of the heat from the incident in Iraq where his actions/inactions contributed to several people dying in a firefight (I am paraphrasing).

Just saying, I think the guy comes off as a douche bag as well. He may have some good points but he majority of his opinions sound like he is trying to be outrageous in an attempt at creating a personality rather than hashing out a valid point (like Don Cherry).

I don't know about that...........There was a lot going in that supposed firefight, and the contracting company he was working for was not up to par apparently....keep in mind he went over there in Iraq during the boom when anyone could get hired.....also what people thought were good ideas for tactics and training has changed a lot over the years. I just get the impression on AR-15 there are a lot of arm chair generals on there......also just because you served in the military does not exactly give you a pass as an expert, one thing I learned from the service is guys with big egos annoy the hell out of me, and there is a lot of them in general especially when it comes to the gun world. I don't know how many after action reports I was apart of where the ego maniacs quickly turned to degrading each other and undermining the moral as a whole in the section or even the platoon level.

Also just because someone says he was in the service does not make it so, I have bumped into one or too of them before too...

I'm not sure from the story of him getting people killed by getting to the ditch instead of staying in a car when rounds are ripping through the car they were driving is necessarily the thing you want to do. Mistakes are always made on some level or another and in this business people die easy...At the end of the day I was not there and I have no idea what their SOPS are, or what pr-training they had at the time..

i personally have really little knowledge on Mr Yeager but he seems like alright guy, I'm sure his courses are very informative, as for his supposed antics I have not watch many of his vids.........

I agree with you for sure, my point was that the haters were not all COD playing teenagers ranting on ARF, there were legitimate service members on there who were being critical not just of his supposed actions in Iraq but also on the training and techniques he pushes in his courses.
Also just because someone says he was in the service does not make it so, I have bumped into one or too of them before too...

I also agree, there are tons of people like that around, they seem to flock to the ranges. Even some of the guys who were/are in the service are guilty of exaggerating their military service history, what they did or what unit they served on. I have met half a dozen people that claim they are/were/coulda been SF/JTF2 and etc, some of them are worse shooters than me... which is alarming if they were potentially a tier 1 operators. :D hahaha

That being said, on ARFCOM, they must send in proof of service to be vetted by the site administration and earn the tank next to their name. If someone has a tank next to their name you can be sure that they are/were in the service.

I agree, I was not there, I am not military and I don't know anything about two way ranges. I was just stating that the focus of the anger towards him tends to stem from that particular incident and the following comments made by him on-line and in the report regarding that incident. Also he has made numerous contradictory statements that are constantly being rehashed from TV appearances and his you tube videos.

i personally have really little knowledge on Mr Yeager but he seems like alright guy, I'm sure his courses are very informative, as for his supposed antics I have not watch many of his vids.........

I don't have any experience with his course however some of his online videos have had actual footage of guys down range, filming up range, during live fire drills... so yeah he has received some justly deserved criticism. I am sure he is knowledgeable, I am only pointing out that some of the critics make valid points and do have a background to refute/critique mr. Yeagers statements. I do personally find his videos a bit over the top, the 1911 vs glock one is a good example of how he took something that could have been a fairly good discussion and lost all credibility with dramatic hyperbole and injecting strong personal bias into the review. I personally don't like loud mouth types, so I find him a bit arrogant. That doesn't mean he is not knowledgeable, rather just an individual I couldn't learn anything from as I would be questioning every technique he is pushing on the grounds that he comes off as a know it all type

I have to ask what the objection to being downrange is? Tactical response and other schools teach skills and mindset related to combat/defensive use of a firearm. How would one learn about such skills and experience if they were not immersed?

Bullets do not and cannot radically change direction mid flight. If you're unsure of this you probably shouldn't be involved with firearms. Positioning Yourself in front of another while they shoot can be a safe choice and is often a necessary one. The safety nazi square range mentality has no place in a practical training environment.
