January Purchases!

Here is my contribution, a nice RC from epps. This one has some unusual features including what looks like a park finish.

Notice the early date & the sight protector?

Very cool 1936 Mauser Borsigwalde manufactured K98 there desporterizer!

It's definitely an RC, you got that right! Not a parkerized finish, but the poorly done Russian "re-dip" in their own nasty blueing solution.

The reason it has a sight hood of course is because the barrel has been replaced with a later wartime made one on that receiver. Was most likely replaced by the Ruskys too.

Looks like the stock has a few repairs on it too... (As well as the typical Commie Shellac) At least the stock is the correct type for that year of manufacture, and looks like it might be original to the receiver as well with that WaA280 on the recoil lug.

Clean her up well and she will give you great service I am sure! I am a junkie for pre-war and early war dated K98s!

Cheers!

After over a year of looking (which turned out to be alot harder than I expected), I finally tracked down a set of decent original grips for my Colt Official Police British Contract revolver to replace the ugly rubber Pachmayr it came with... it finally actually looks like a milsurp! Now I just need to track down a lanyard ring and I'm set.

Here's my really nice K31 that I picked up from Tradex, the stock on this one is gorgeous!!! I also managed to get an accessory package from Calgary Shooting Center.

1941 Long Branch No4 Mk1

1941 LB....1L......original 2 groove barrel in really nice shape. Numbers match...Receiver/Bolt/Barrel/ Stock. Nice early mag. 1941 Woods Toronto sling.
Cheers

Nice '41, but almost certainly it's a Canadian Arsenals 1945-1949 era re-barrel. Every original (non-Canadian FTR) 1941 LB I have ever seen had a 5-groove barrel. If memory serves, the 2-groove only came out in late 1942.

Claven, you are very knowlegeable but I think you misread the post.

6167's 41 doesn't have any FTR marks that I can see and it has a 5 groove bbl.

What did I miss???

I may have misread it, I thought it used to say 2-groove? Or did he edit it?

Also, Canadian Arsenals FTRs aren't marked. Only way to tell is barrel date markings, parts that don;t fit year of mfgr, and sometimes a bead blasted and parked finish depending on the year.

Typical Bubba No4 … but for $100, only a fool would pass her over…

I knew there was something wrong with the front sight, the guard was missing for sure. Got it home and then it hit me… Bubba had removed about an inch of the barrel… and with it, the bayonet lugs. There went my plans for a total “Louthepou” refurb. Arrghh!

Bolt and receiver match… ( but not the mag)

Seems like it may have been “sporterized” by Parker-Hale way back in the day…

Bore is almost mint, but rifle will probably now ( probably ) get my repro No32 scope on it, new military wood, and all done up to look like a No4(T)

Yes, another cheap-ass sniper clone, I suppose… but then the rifle is already Bubba’d so WTF.

Too bad though, it really is gorgeous inside and out.

well i just picked up a 1942 mosin, its in great shape and the bore is great, i wasnt really looking to get another mosin yet but for $50 i couldnt say no :) it also came with a box of ammo

For that price, they were practically giving it away! It would have been a crime not to buy it! There I just justified your purchase, copy and paste that to your wife/gf/significant other haha! Seriously though, nice purchase!
