Ie used Devcon in the past and I'm pretty much out. There are no local shops to pick the stuff up around here and it's quite expensive. I've noticed before that Canadian Tire carries JB Weld and I've heard of it being used for bedding. Has anyone had any experience with the stuff? Will it work, and if so, how well?

Both JB and devcon are epoxy with steel fillers so there is no shrinkage by either one , however I find devcon to be a better product for bedding because it has more steel in it and is not as runny as JB , also devcon seems to leave a nicer finish for me anyways.

JB Weld (not JBQuick!) works great. It is less viscous and less hard than Devcon, but works well when you want a material that fills voids fluidly, such as in skim bedding applications. Devcon does weigh more.
I use JB Weld for playing with SKS bedding. For a target rifle I use Devcon F aluminum putty.
I prefer the aluminum over the steel because Devcon is sold by weight. There is a lot more material in the can if you buy Aluminum putty. The putty is the easiest to work with.

I found that the JBWeld ran too much and bought some Marine Tex which was OK for an SKS.
JB has a nice flow to it, and moves itself into tight spots and gaps. It's easy to work with and gives you plenty of time before it starts to harden. Does excellent for any touch ups in the bedding later if you first did not put enough on.
It dries to a smooth, attractive finish.
I can't remember the numbers but it's engineered to withstand temps below zero and above 100.

Devcon and Marine-Tex are the bedding standards...............The Military shooting team armorers have used both with great success............

I have used both Devcon and JB weld. Both work perfect and I can tell no difference in hardness or "performance".

If you feel that the more $ something cost it must work better use Devcon. If not JB weld works perfectly fine.

I use JB weld all the time, it does not shrink. You can get the giant sized tubes at the auto parts store for $25.
JB works,it's a little more brittle than Devcon but doesn't seem to be a problem. If you don't want it to run everywhere, mix it and let it sit for 45 min before you put it in then it's the consistency of Devcon and most of the shrinkage has already taken place.
