JC Barrels...yay or nay?

Haven't un-packaged it yet- but I just got a barrel from JC. Was exactly the timing he advised when I ordered it. Will be a bit before it is built up to know it if is a shooter or not. JC was great to deal with- I hope the barrel is a shooter!

I have a JC 6br barrel and it is a hammer. Good to go. I'm actually thinking of ordering another one already just to have on hand to replace this one when needed. Still doing load development and it's shot 3 of the loads 0.3moa in the one node

Be nice if we could get rid of the spammers on here

Spammers? OP said he wanted to stick with a Canadian company, and was aware of JC. Perhaps he didn't know that IBI is Canadian, and makes fantastic barrels as well. A friend has an IBI on his 6BR, took second at the Kenora 500m BR match with factory Lapua 105's. He's done load development and is in high 1's and low 2's. Not bad for some spam eh!

I have an IBI barrel to try out, building a 7 SAUM on it, looking forward to testing it out.

Wow now that's what a borescope picture should look like. The factory barrel I want to replace has chatter marks on the bore and rifling. I can push 100 patches down the barrel and it still shows residue. Thanks for adding the photos.

What cleaner were you using? During break in of my JC barrel I couldn't get clean patches using Hoppes or G96...ever. I tried boretech copper eliminator and after less than 10 patches they were coming out as white as they went in and the borescope was showing similar to what was posted in this thread.

I currently have two rifles with Jury Custom stainless steel barrels, 240 Weatherby and 270 Winchester. I give JC great reviews as they are built with excellence, off the lathe with accuracy excellence, very easy to cleaning (Hopps No. 9 only) and of course weather resistance. However, I've also had Gaillard, Douglas and Krieger before with the same performance.

I now switched to Ron Smith barrels, that are now on two newly built rifles, that are not quite complete. Why I switched?.......try something different, one of the barrels is a gain-twist 1:20 to 1:10, 27".

However, JCCustom Barrels is a different outfit than Bob Jury barrels
One is in Alberta and the other down East in new Brunswick ( I think).

Well, unfortunately in todays world we utilize to may acronyms, jargon or abbreviation in communication. Sometimes a person requires super powers to read one's mind to understand what they are stating, in this case, what they are asking. Maybe the OP can shed some clarification.

The title of the thread is about JC barrels. To me that seems like he is specifically asking about JC barrels and not looking for recommendations of other barrel manufacturers.

He said jc custom barrels yay or nay and he wants to stick to Canadian manufacture. Nobody brought up non Canadian manufactured barrels. I see several people don’t see it your way

Looking to replace my factory 223 barrel on my savage model 12. I would like to stick to a Canadian made company. Just looking for any input from any CGNer's that have experience with these barrels. Thanks.

He does say JC Barrels in the title but also mentions "he would like to stick to a Canadian" company in his first post........ there are many good Canadian barrel makers and JC is just one of them, I have a JC Barrel and its very accurate.

Ted Gailliard makes awesome barrels as well.

I will go with yay!
I have a JC Custom on my .223. It is a 30" long 1:7" twist to shoot 80-82 gr bullets out to 1000 yards. I shoot iron sights and the very first match that I shot with it produced a 50.6v at 300 yards. I am in the process of building a Barnard in .308 that also has a 30 inch .308 barrel with a 1:12 twist. There is also a another JC Custom barrel 1-11" twist sitting on my work bench to go onto my CG Millennium action once I am convinced the present barrel is shot out.
