Jericho 941 Issues...

I had fired my Baby Eagle for the 2nd time yesterday, and got a couple of problems.

All of a sudden, the gun failed to fire, and kept doing so until I field-stripped it, wiped off excess oil, and reassembled. I noticed very faint firing pin marks on the primers which makes me believe this could be the problem. The rounds seemed to chamber OK, but there were fairly deep marks on those bullets, and those marks were running at an angle to the bullet's body. The feed ramp looks clean & without burrs.

I'm using the 115g S&B ammo that never gave me any issues in my Shadow. When I received my Jericho I only field-stripped it for cleaning. Should I disassemble further & clean the firing pin and spring? If so, I'd appreciate instructions on how to take it apart...

I am also wondering why the pistol ejects all over the place. My Shadow ejects at about 4-5 o'clock. Jericho goes anywhere from 1 to 6 o'clock, LOL. I kid you not: one shell hit me in the chest, how lame is that? :D

TIA.

P.S. While I'm at it: is there anything I can do to polish the 'gritty' finish without ruining the bluing, to make it feel more smooth, like the Shadow? I like CZ's finish much better. Plastic grips are also annoying, I'd much rather use simple rubber ones like on the Shadow. Would the grips from a regular 75b fit?

The firing pin could be the issue. It's pretty easy to get it out, if it's anything like a CZ and you can get excess oil out of there.

  1. Does it say Jerico or Baby Eagle?
  2. When the top is removed from the bottom and pushing on the firing pin can you see it petruding from the breach?
  3. With a flat head screw driver can you wiggle the extractor freely or is it a PITA?
  4. Also are these re-loads or factory ammo?
  5. Also when was the last time you did a detail cleaning and full disasembley of the mainspring located in the magazine well?

Does it say Jerico or Baby Eagle? Jericho 941. Its the newer model, with a rail.

With a flat head screw driver can you wiggle the extractor freely or is it a PITA? Don't know but will check tomorrow.
Also are these re-loads or factory ammo? Factory S&B 115gr RN
Also when was the last time you did a detail cleaning and full disasembley of the mainspring located in the magazine well? Never. I only did a field-strip to clean the gun originally, and after I shot 100 rounds through it. I got the whole gun (including main spring) cleaned with Break cleaner + lubed with G96.

@Contondant: its very much like the original CZ75, with decocker on the slide. I saw diagrams for frame-based safety, just want to make sure nothing is significantly different when it comes to firing pin disassembly.

Sounds like a bad bunch with the newer 941's.
I can't be any more help as I only have the baby eagle version but according from what I have heard it's a warrenty issue;

This past week was crazy, but yesterday I finally had a chance to strip the slide before going shooting. I found a pretty large metal shaving - looks more like a piece of sheet metal stamping - inside the firing pin channel:

Still, after shooting 200 rounds, there was a couple of light primer strikes, and one case of the magazine backing out. The last one could be operator error though...

BTW, I tried to wiggle the extractor but it wouldn't budge. Do I have to take it apart? This makes me nervous.

This is what I was afraid of. First try brake clean the opening behind the extractor then with a small flat head try wiggling it. If it still won't budge I would contact the guys at ARMCO and see if they will have some time to look at it. I am betting that it's a broken extractor spring but I could be wrong.
