Jr carbine .45 reliability?
Anyone has it? I've previously heard issues with reliability. Anyone?
I am considering getting one and wondering if I should get 9mm or 45. Shooting non res 45 at cans seems appealing to me.

opinion?

I had lots of issues with mine in .45. Broke 2 ejector tabs( 1 in 50 round 2nd about 800 later) and lots of FTF. Converted mine to 9mm and have been happy since. Go 9mm

I have a really really sticky bolt in my 9mm, so can't suggest going the 9mm route either, sorry, looks like these things are really just a 900$ piece of crap, I'm very disappointed.

Both my Thureon defence 10mm being flawless after 1000+ rounds, those are built like tanks and quite accurate, had the buffers change as a prevention but no troubles whatsoever even with my hottest reloads... JP.

Yep maybe I should have bought a Thureon...

The first couple of hundred round in mine were miserable. Mine's the gen II with the round barrel and the upgrade kit installed from the factory. Seems to be smoothing out quite a bit now...still have issues with misfeeds once every couple of mags or so. Much better than when it was new.

I have the gen 2 as well. Did yours have the sticky bolt problem?

I don't have any failure to feeds or eject though. But some of the brass I've noticed is really beat up to hell.

JR's are very picky about ammunition and it may get progressively worse with .45acp, I think they haven't made the eject port big enough for reliable ejecting. It does not like hot loads so you may need to test a whole wack of different ammo and different weights too and see what it likes or not. If you reload, build a little reduced load and give it a try, using different powder/primer combination also makes difference.. Most of the problems occur during feeding, it basically jams in 60 or so degree position in respect to the axis of chamber, my findings are, for one, your magazine needs to be top notch quality, preferably OEM Glock, second, hot load seems to generate a more powerful blow back that causes the next round to feed improperly. Also, they come very often from factory pretty much dry so you need to take it apart, clean it up and lubricate it well with good gun oil, especially the firing pin inside the bolt but don't flood it, just oil reasonably. Last, they seem to behave atrociously for the first few hundred rounds and then they break-in and settle and run much better. Hope this helps

Ive been kicking around the idea of picking one of these up however because of some posts and reviews (like the ones in this thread) im a litle nervous about buying a $1000 canoe paddle. The 45 seems to be the most problematic and the 9 seems to be ok for the most part after a good break in, cleaning, and oiling. So what about the 40? Do any of you guys run one, and any issues with it like the 45's or does it seem to run like the 9's for the most part? I was also wondering if 9mm ammo in a 40s&w magazine would work for this rifle to get a few extra rounds in the mag...
Sorry about the high jack, it still is along the same lines as the op's question tho.

Well if you ask me if I regret dropping 900$ on a 9mm carbine? Yes I really do!
People say it gets better after 500 to 1000 rounds. Its just how am I supposed to fire 500 to 1000 rounds if the bolt gets stuck after 10 rounds and requires 3 guys to rock it back?

Mine's the .45, and it didn't have the sticky bolt issue...unless you accidentally forget to put one of the shims back in the buffer tube. If the bolt is allowed to go back too far, it gets sticky.

The brass comes out looking fine on mine. When it fails to feed though, there's no salvaging that unfired round. The bolt slams hard on the round that's sticking up, and it usually pokes a hole right through the casing...lol. Weirdly enough, I've found mine to prefer the Norc ammo over the American Eagle. Go figure.

Yeah, just look at my post # 12, I own one in .40
I love shooting it but it had all of those issues I described and I might add, the brass coming out of that thing is a real mess, about 60% cleanable in a tumbler with fresh media, the remaining stained for good, still functional and reloadable but definitely not my show piece reloads. So, like I said, I love shooting it, would I buy another one ? hmmmmmmmmmmm no

i had one, after 10 rounds the damn bolt seized on mine just like another's on here. I sold it for a decent loss. Its unreliable and a canoe paddle.

I don't know about you guys but I've never had any issues with my 45. She eats anything I've put in it, and most recently a ton of cheapo Norinco stuff. The brass comes out looking good and I have been reloading it. Maybe I just got lucky, because I absolutely love it... Haha

i have a 45 jrc. had to get in contact with jrc and they shipped me an update kit to fix mine after many jams. most of my jams were caused by the mag well. wasnt designed properly and the mags never sat in the right position. if you don't wanna go through the trouble of having to wait for jrc to send you the repair parts to fix the 45 when you get it then just buy a 9 or 40. the 9s i have never heard of a jam.

yep i'm coming to realize I wasted 900$ plus tax on a safe ornament.
Should have saved some money and gone for a tavor. Now I'll wind up buying a tavor anyway...
