JR Carbine Unboxing, Firing & Takedown Videos

Never having dealt with AR handguards I'm not sure if this is attached with a standard method. As there's no gas block on the barrel I doubt the Magpul MOE would work...or is there a different way to attach them also?

I see some lernin' in my future. :)

Some more random thoughts and observations after another hundred rounds...

Still no problems of any sort. Me likee. :)

The trigger is... well, it reminds a lot of the trigger on my Norc M4. Creepy, kinda heavy but with a decent letoff. It can be made better fairly easily and cheaply though, so I'm not too concerned. I'll do that when...

My Bad-Ass ambi safety from Battle Arms gets here. These look to be the coolest and most versatile ambi unit out there, with different sizes and thicknesses available for each side. Target Sports carries them for ~$100 shipped.

I really don't like the handguard. I'm not sure if it's too short, fat, both or what, but I don't like holding it, looking at it or leaning/laying it on anything. Like Petrock, I'd love a Magpul MOE on there, but they won't work as a free float. Need to think on this some more. Or try some rail covers/ladders/panels at the very least I suppose.

The triangular barrel is pretty cool. I have no idea if that sort of cross section does anything at all, but it is definitely distinctive. Almost be a shame to cover it up with a longer handguard.

I have an entire shop full of tools acquired by two previous generations plus everything I've bought as a mechanic, and there is nothing in there that will work well as a castle nut wrench. :bangHead: Looks like I'll be on the prowl for an armorers tool at the Saskatoon show this weekend.

When the bolt handle is in the locked back position, an upward sweep of the thumb can reach and disengage it and send the bolt forward. Slick.

I still haven't decided what I'm going to use this for, and this was a factor in why I sold my non-res Storm last year. The truck gets the shotgun, tractor gets the .223, Rhino gets the .22LR, Gophers get the .17 Mach 2 plus all of the above as a bonus. Hmmm. More thought required on this.

Any firearm which is touching your vehicle is being "transported". Be it laying on the dash, in the trunk, on the bed, passenger seat, or the hood. Whether the vehicle is in drive or park, engine on or off, keys in or out, under direct supervision or not. (It is the same interpretation of "transporting" that allows people with truck-guns get away with "transporting" them indefinately, as opposed to "storing" them)

Prove it.

Great work Farmer Harv. In the first set of videos, what flip up sights are those and where did you get them?

Thanks!
