JR Carbine Unboxing, Firing & Takedown Videos

Has anyone successfully modified the factory stock to collapse, and if so how? The roll pin on mine is only accessible from one side so aside from drilling it out, looks like I should just get a new stock assembly.

the one i have (which i bought used) does collapse.. when i was enquiring about them new, i was told that you have to just drill it out. apparently it was a US export thing.

Changing out the handguards is fairly simple, they will take a standard ar barrel nut but it needs to be modified slightly, the threads on the jr reciever are a bit shorter than the standard so the nut needs to be shortened about .050". This is what i did with mine. Next step is to thread the barrel.

Most excellent! Had the exact same thing in mind. Great work!

Is the sight plane parallel to the barrel with the AR FSB and carry handle?

The sights line up perfectly, i was just out shooting it for the first time today and off a sandbag i was getting about 4" groups at 100 yds with the open sights. The gun cycled fine with the rifle lenght buffer tube, all i had to do was use a rifle buffer and remove some rubber buffers that where inside the jr's stock tube and put them the new buffer tube.

Find a really small drill-bit that fits in the little hole in the centre of the rollpin. Drill through the little hole until you come out the other side of the stock. Now turn the gun over, and drill back the other way with a bigger drill-bit until you hit the pin. Now you can drive the pin out with a small punch.

Thanks Dexter, I'll give that a try.

Had my 9mm JR out to the range yesterday for its cherry popping. Nice shooting gun, accurate (within indoor range distances anyhow) but I experienced a fair amount of what seemed to be short stroking. Cartridge would fire, gun would cycle and chamber another round, but hammer down and no clicky. Ammunition was RWS Sport Line (RUAG) 124gr. Shot only 100 rounds but I was surprised how dirty the thing was at the end. A byproduct of blowback operation I suppose?

Now I will admit to being negligent towards the explicit instructions to strip and lube it before firing which may have played a part in the short stroking. I did give it some G96 on the bolt before shooting so it wasn't completely dry. Perhaps the ammunition was a little tame also? I'll try some MFS, AE, and WW next, and some proper oil on the bolt rails.

Overall I like the gun, can see myself getting another!

I used a smal sheet metal / thread cutting screw. As soon as it threaded in to the roll pin enough to grip I used a small pair of pliers and pulled straight up: out it came.

Cool! This did it for me... I'm thinking a JR is on my next to buy list.
Can you post a pic of the nut (what you "shortened/shaved" off)
