JR Carbine Unboxing, Firing & Takedown Videos

I got it "used" from eps. Prev owner must have not liked it as there wasn't a mark on it.

It had the A2 style falsh hider on it when I got it, and its still the angled barel.

Are the JR Carbines setup so that any AR Forearm (rail) will mate up perfectly to the upper?
Anyone know?

I'm thinking the TROY-TRX would look very nice on these babies.

I agree...that's what I tried to mount on mine. Unfortunately, the barrel nut that retains the barrel and onto which the forearm attaches is much larger than the standard forward threaded extension on an AR receiver. The AR pieces won't fit. If anyone knows a solution (maybe if a different barrel nut became available from JR) I'd love to hear about it.

Anyone know if the conversion kits are available? I bought mine a while back in 9mm and wouldn't mind getting the conversion kit to go 40 S&W.

I am hoping to get one in .40S&W by end of next week. Of course then I would have to break down and buy a Glock to justify all the mags too. Geez it just never ends.

Regards,

A KAS, SWAN or a CASV should work for ya guyz;

In order to mount Troy TRX or any Sampson Star type rails You need to get different AR barrel nut shown below.

I believe what jjohnwm means is that the inner diameter of the nut is larger on the JR Carbine. A regular AR nut will not thread on, because the inner-diameter is too small.

Am I right?

I believe BUSHMASTER makes a larger diameter nut for their "plastic" AR Uppers. But then I think that nut would only work with standard plastic AR furniture.

G37, yes, that is what I was referring to. Unless JR supplies a smaller-diameter nut, the standard AR forearms won't fit.

Satain, how do those items solve the problem? How do they attach if not by means of the threaded barrel nut? Do they clamp to the top rail by means of the extension that they all seem to have? If so, are they stable enough to mount a front sight or an optic?

I was hoping to use the Troy unit that I already have, mainly because it is very slim and trim. The standard JR unit is a bulky, uncomfortable POS.

Mounts to the rail & provides a handguard that doesn't touch the barrel. My CASV is mounted on my KelTec SU16 as part of my eurika moment. ;)

I wonder if it is possible to have a machine shop make new threads on the TROY nut? If there was enough material there that would be awesome!

I also really like the TRX having owned a few in the past.

Hey fellas .. I got a JR from ellwood eps last week. . . I have it in .40 S&W...I seem to be having nothing but problems with it. I havent been able to put a full 10 rounds through without some pretty serious issues.

There was no indication that the carbine was previously used ... I have tried two different ammunition types in it. The one works better than the other, the Blazer rounds did not function well at all. . .

I'm wondering it i have a dud...Any one else had issues with these firearms?

Cheers,

C

I have the 9mm version and it has been fine. Did you strip it, clean it and lube it?

Hope you get things sorted out Cratcher. They're a fun carbine when they're running right.

Is Epps going to handle the warranty on the buffer/bolt or do you need to go through Just Right Carbines in the US? My serial number falls into the group that need it, but I haven't called either place yet to see what the process will be for Canadians.

Where is this list of serial numbers that need these parts? Mine so far has been ok but if it requires some warranty parts, I want to know.

Thanks for the help!

Send an email to upgrades@justrightfirearms.com, tell them the problem, your serial number and all your contact info. It's either upgrades@ or upgrade@ can't remember. The head gunsmith phoned me at home from new York, i told him
I was from Canada, he said no problem he would call and walk me through it. I am just waiting to hear back from them, it's only been a couple days.
