JRA M14 feed issue

How difficult is it to load that 5th round into your mag?

If the mag is pinned too tight, this may cause the bolt to fail to go into battery due to the bolt being slowed excessively when stripping the first round from the mag. When this happens, the safety bridge will prevent the firing pin from going forward resulting in a failure-to-fire. That's a good thing when you think of the consequences of firing with an unlocked bolt.
 
Don't underestimate the value of simply shooting a new firearm before throwing the maker to the wolves. Guns are little machines. They have rough edges and sharp surfaces.

Sometimes, blasting a hundred rounds downrange before getting worked up about the the accuracy is what a new gun needs. But, don't ignore the lubrication and DO NOT fire the shots bangbangbangbangbangbang just to empty the magazine. Clean the barrel every ten shots for a new precision rifle.
 
there is zero give when pushing down on the 5th round. Im guessing the mag was pinned to tight. There is some pretty heavy drag marks on the underside of the bolt.
Any other mag i got around the house (non M14) has at bit of wiggle room before the rivet or metal crimp stops the rounds.

Anyone else with SA mags have this issue?

Im not at all complaining WRT JRA. I was pretty happy with the group and factory match ammo. Im guessing the gun can do alot better. That being said, when you buy the "Cadillac" of M14s' you do not wanna have the gun go click on round one. (so far its looking like SA mag pin job to blame).
So ill point the finger at silly gun laws. Not anyone's manufacturing to be 100% clear.
 
Was the bolt fully closed when the rifle went "click", or had it hung up while closing?

if the last round is super tight to fit into the mag, then that could be the issue.
Bolt is having a tough time getting it out of the mag into the chamber, thus slowing the speed of its travel and not fully seating when stopped? If the other 4 rounds in the mag are always loading fine then I don't know what the issue could be.
