July purchases

The thought had occured to me as well, but I wasn't sure. The wood is Enfield cartouched (the E in the D used in the 40s) and I thought it might be walnut which hadn't been finished to the same degree.

The rest probably is walnut - only the front HG looks distinctly aussie to me. Can't see the rear HG too well in the pic though, so no idea about that part.

Here is my fully matching 1944 Tula Russian m44 with its fullly matching 1953 Polish m44 with proper sling. Just picked up the Polish one. I think I am getting addicted to M44's

also picked up this enfield RCMP DEPOT MK1 chest, Anyone have a spare RCMP marked enfield I could put with it?

Some nice looking stuff here... I happened across a Beretta Hakim Trainer (22LR), and decided to get it, and am just waiting to get it home... hope this is the right spot. I can't find much info on this. It seems the Anschutz .22 air rifle Hakim trainer was more prevailant at about 2800 made, with more info available.

All I do know, was that it was made in 1955 for the Egyptians, by Beretta, and shares the same action as my Super Sport, and was a design originating from Walther I believe...

Any else here own one and would like to proffer some knowledge? Thanks... added new pic

First time posting here, found this yesterday...Have not cleaned it up yet. Does any one have info on these?
What is the small mounting bracket for in the middle of the case?

Hmmm... looks very familiar to me. :)
The mount you're referring to is a quick release Griffin & Howe mount for some US military rifle.
The channel-like one mounted on the scope is for a FN-FAL.
I think that kind of scope was made by Litton Enterprises. I tried to get some info but no one returned any answer.

Good luck to you.

Arisaka Model 38

Got this very nice piece from a CGN regular.
Apart from the stock whose repaired lower half shrunk and doesn't fit perfectly anymore (ah, being old...), the rest of it is pretty much like it was back in those days.
ADD-ON: GOT ANSWERS FROM SOME COLLECTORS AND THEY SAY THAT THE DOVETAILED LOWER BUTTSTOCK SPLICING WAS THE WAY THESE STOCKS WERE MADE.
Mum is still there with small C stampings around it which is supposed to denote use by a school or something later on.
I think it has been made in Nagoya plant but I'll have to do some more research about it.
Proper and careful restoration seems to be in order for this one.
I'll order some Norma ammo for it from Dante's in Montreal soon.

OK. That would explain the mum not defaced?
PP.

Indicates removed from Japanese service. Many Nagoya 27 series like this one were transfered to Siam after Japan occupied the country (occupied for all intents and purposes - Japan was "invited") The 27 and 28 series had the trianglular peep sight. Every similar "circle defaced" mum T38 I've observed here was of 27 series Nagoya. Probably got imported here in the 60s along with Siamese T45, the T38 30-06 conversions and other Thai arms.

This example is certainly one of the cleanest I've seen here.

Very interesting comments, EoS! Thanks! I'm going to look around for more data on these rifles and their variants.

The rifle is a '44 Winchester, but it's old news.

The stock arrived this past week. I carry this rifle about in the spring when I do a lot of backpacking, I thought this would be a fun way to shorten and lighten it for carrying on a pack.

Just need a matching handguard, this one is for my full wood stock...
