July purchases

Notice how both of those posts were made by people with the handle "Skippy", and both sets of pics were taken on the same piece of patio furniture ;)

Coincidence? I think not!

The rifle is a '44 Winchester, but it's old news.

The stock arrived this past week. I carry this rifle about in the spring when I do a lot of backpacking, I thought this would be a fun way to shorten and lighten it for carrying on a pack.

Just need a matching handguard, this one is for my full wood stock...

is that a 18.5 inchs barrel?

Long-ish Lee

In a gun shop in Medicine Hat of all places I came across this sporterized Mk1 Long Lee. The "improvements" look like they were professionally done originally, however the barrel has been docked to 28 1/4 inches and is cut a bit off square, so I suspect this was done by bubba later (maybe it wouldn't fit in his gun locker). Anyway rifling is a bit worn (no doubt) but is very clean, so it came home after a bit of haggling.

yeah not much question about this being professional. Check out the patchwork on the forearm where upper Hand guard clips would go. Bubba would never go to this much effort.

That's a really impressive collection of some the of the harder to find French milsurps. You really lucked out with the 44 and 49 (and in particular with the early correct scope) The 35S is not common, either. Old Western Scrounger makes 7.65 Long ammo.

I just finished getting my dies and components to load the 7.5 MAS for when my Syrian milsurp supply runs out.

My 7.5 brass is on it's way so i should see it by friday, i haven't shot any of these rifles yet and i really hope they perform well because i'm really starting to like them and it would be ashame if they didn't

lee speed?

That's not a Lee Speed. It would be marked as such.

bearhunter

Just because it is not marked Lee Speed does not mean it still was not sporterized by a professional gun smith and or company that specialized in doing up pro sporters from mil stock rifles.

Lee Speed is only a patten which was reqired to be stamped on rifles while it was in effect. Once the patten expired, the wording Lee Speed was meaningless and did not have to be stamped on rifles with Lee Speed designed actions.

Nice Rifle and I am leaning towards professional job for the gentleman sportsman. Maybe bubba got it after and did the crown :(

First time out with my MAS49/56, it shot 1 moa off the bench with Syrian surplus.

I have the APX L806 scope for it now and can't wait to see how it will perform.

Do you have to remind me that you are one of the few that actually have this rifle up here in Canada, you know that they are garbage and you should throw it away.....just tell me where you threw it.
