Mine is a 35### so its a pretty late contract. :) I think its all correct not too sure. I'll post pictures soon.

PS. You like FN's huh ?? :)

Dimitri

LOL, well since I can't take the other kind of FN to the range anymore, I've developed more of an interest in the '49. Plus, I had an outstanding book on the SAFN given to me. Now, I can sound like an expert too.;)

Nice looking rifle Dimitri. I'd guess it's a Century rebuild from the condition. Egyptian crest or eagle on the receiver? Do you have any more pics?

Apparently there is more to know about Eygptian '49s than I thought...

My stock disk is a Eygtian quarter

What gives a '49 away as a Century rebuild?

Well look if your rifle has all matching serial numbers on:

Receiver
Receiver cover
Bolt
Bolt carrier
Barrel

And it has the original Buttstock with the trap door not the Century Plastic (I think) its probably all original :)

Might have import marks though. Stevo is probably more well informed then me :p

Let me guess, the Egyptian quarter is for a thirsty camel jockey that happens to find a Coke machine in the middle of the desert!!!

Rebuilt lithy? Has wrong buttstock and rear sight guard for a '43 Lithgow. Should be unmilled guard and coachwood buttstock with the "43 III* MA LITHGOW" branding, not inletted for a WW1 era unit disc. Also, as I'm sure you know, wrong sling ;)

Got a little package in the mail today from a friend overseas. One of the items is an original wartime Mauser k98 manual for the German soldier. EDIT***Damn, my apologies, I have to learn how to reduce the size***
Okay, I'll remove the pics until I figure out how to resize. ANyone wanting to see it please email me

are they in 8x57, 7x57 or transformed to 7.62x51?
What about functionality? I never handled one.....

Always wanted one and finally got an Enfield no 4 Mk 2 this week, ROF Fazakerly production. Could this be one of the "Irish Contract rifles" that were unissued? S/N PF3093XX.
The 2 swedes had to be part of the deal.

eltorro,

Mine is a 8mm Mauser, That one that was posted unless it was a major rebuildor a rebarreled rifle because its Egyption is also 8mm :D

The Argentinian Navy ones are 308 but when they were convered they had 20round magazines so the type of magazines you see in mine and his are original non-conversion. :)

They are nice and functional, they have a gas piston design, pretty strongly built and completly machined no stamped receivers. They handle well too. Some people compare the FN49 to a SKS in the sense they both handle about the same but one is a Corvett and the other is a cheaply built Yugo import :p

I've picked up a Plainfield M1 Carbine that I've removed the cheezy barrel extension from (it's registered as restricted) that's dressed in USGI wood (crossed cannon cartouche). I have a USGI front sight set on order.

I have also just bought an 8mm SAFN-49 that will probably arrive in August.

Someone buy my T/C classic .22, please.

8mm
7mm
30-06
7.65 something or other
I have never seen one of the 7.62x51 units with that big 20rd mag...sure would be coo-ool though

These rifles are super reliable with adjustable gas and above average accuracy for a military semi-auto
