I think you did ok if you got the bayonet with it too. It looks like it is in great shape from what I can see from your picture.
Ah ok, have seen people quoting something $300-400 for one, perhaps that was a while ago. It's definitely a very quirky, and awesome rifle, and in very good condition. I'm definitely gonna be feeding it lots of ammo hehe.
I've had some interest when I mentioned taming the brass murder, I bought some screws from the US with the correct pitch, will be trying them out tonight. They're too long to work as is, but with some cutting and shaping should be good to go.
Camster, every time I read something like that I feel I need a time machine! I'll be sure to pick up some $10 garand boxes too, hehe. That bolt is no joke, my friend was very careful loading up the ag42b after I showed him it means business.

BE CAREFUL WITH THE GAS PORT SCREW: it is a very thin straight groove, and is punched in place. If you try to force it with something too small, it will strip pretty damn easy. Luckily, if you own a Mosin, Mother Russia has you covered with a tool that fits perfectly:
Here's the larger screws installed. Obviously they are way too big and need to be cut and shaped, but preliminary testing will be done tonight hopefully.
