Jumping into the Handgun game

Hey guys and Gals
I am jumping into the handgun game for the first time ever and as I wait for my RPAL to be processed I have put on hold at my local gun shop a Jericho 941 (baby eagle) in 9mm and a Sig (gsg) 1911 in .22 cal. Will post picts once I get them home in a month or three depending on the processing time of my application. I have handles lots of different handguns over the years and have found these two fit me quite nicely.

What do you think of these two choices for starting out? What upgrades can I do to either one? I am a total newbie to handguns so be forgiving please.
 
Since you said you've handled lots of handguns over the years, and settled on these 2 then nothing more need be said!
They are both good choices. The GSG 1911 may be picky with ammo. CCI Stingers work well in most cases but try all types of ammo and see what your particular gun likes.

Those are fine choices to start but I would echo this. Heck, even if you find the one, you'll still want to kept acquiring and trying more.
 
Just buy any CZ 9MM, will shorten your search. I bought several 9MM's prior to my CZ 85 Combat, but none are remotely as accurate. Same reloads in my CZ as compared to my other 9MM's group 50% smaller on average. In fact I get better grouping from my CZ, than my S&W 686 revolver with 38 Special target loads.

Both great choices. May I recommend a revolver if you havent tried one yet.
 
I love the GSG it's cheap to shoot and it's a fun gun for a .22! Never owned the baby eagle, mainly cuz I never had an interest in it. but it's a CZ design and should be alright!

IWI Jericho 941 (baby eagle) is basically a CZ clone.

Maybe copy is a better term than clone... But they use the same principles like how the frame rails are different than most other guns.
 
Both are great, have shot both and love them, but you could have saved some money and bought the GSG .22 instead of the Sig, which is exact same except for grips I believe, and about $150.00 cheaper. Enjoy them, YOU WILL OWN MORE.

Oh ya........ +1 on the CZ, best 9 I have shot.
 
I agree with going GSG over Sig for the 1911-22. Made by the same people at the same place, but different names painted on them.

I'm a recent new owner of one myself, and aside from the first 400 rounds or so (It's got almost 2k through it now) she runs beautifully.
There is an expected 'break-in period' for them. Mine was a little fussy at first, but has settled down nicely.

As for upgrades to it - you should look into the ZRTS Ultimate upgrade package. They are about a hundred bucks, distributed (and sold) by Blue Line - But just yesterday I noticed a site sponsor was selling them for about 10 bucks less. I can't recall which one - so maybe look through a couple of them.

It's supposed to improve accuracy, and plus it makes the GSG look a little cooler too (imho). I've installed one on mine - and really the biggest advantage is being able to toss the barrel locking screw. No more Allen key to try and not lose. I've not noticed any real improvement in accuracy - but I'm pretty sure that's the guy pulling the triggers fault - not the equipment itself.
 
Same time, last year, i was ordering my first handguns and AR's, now 27 items later, i am still shopping right now for another one, my name is caramel and i am an addict... JP.

27 in a year!? And my brother shakes his head at the 6 I've bought in that time. lol (My wife doesn't care though, and we all know its her opinion that counts.)
 
I started a coupe of years ago with the sig .22 as well. I that time I've bought and sold probably 15 different handguns, and am now down to 3 1911's, a Glock, and a Ruger gp100. I've come to realize that I'm a 1911 and revolver guy and that's probably where all future purchases will be focused. Try lots of different models/ styles, you'll find your gun groove eventually.
 
Cz are awesome...I agree I would have saved some cash and got the Gsg....great .22 pistol.....but you will enjoy hem both...
