Mitchell said:Went to the Castor gun show on saturday and pick up this Lee enfield No.4 mk1 longbranch for 275. It is dated 1943 and has a shiny bore and no pitting from what i can tell. This is my very first enfield and i am very happy with it. Here are the pics...
I also picked up some dies for it, brass, and bullets. EDIT by moderator ... removed some comments ....

Normmus said:That is a nice enfield! The hollowed out bolt handle - is that normal for a LB No4? I thought only JC's had that?
Lee Enfield said:I believe that the 1930s No4 trials rifles & 1941 No4s built from trials componants and to the original drawings ALL have the hollow bolt knob.
From my observations of original No4s:
All BSA No4s have the hollowed out bolt handle.
1941 LBs have the hollowed out bolt handle. 1942 on solid
Savages I've seen both ways into 1942
Maltby assembled componants (from other mfg) into rifles (I've seen them both ways).
Never seen a Faz No4 with hollow knob (don't recall seeing a '41 Faz)
