Recently I aquired a Lee Enfield #5. The seller told me this was a numbers matching rifle, I know little about these things and have my doubts with respect to the authenticity of this rifle; from what I have seen of this model on the web, the fore end on mine appears to be incorrect.

Regardless of whether this rifle is a genuine or an imposter, I would like to have the correct wood, and would like a gunsmith to give it a full inspection and refinish the metal.

Anyone out there particularly interested in this kind of work on this type of rifle?

pics help too

if you have a number 4 compare it
the reciever and chamber head of the barrel should look different

if its painted green anywhere that could be another indication its real
and if it is painted green i would not refinish it unless the stock was varnished , where i would varnish the stock

Can you post pics of the gun? There are two different styles of front lower wood, one with a metal cap and others without, both are correct No 5.

It may be something other than what I mentioned but we are always curious to see pics ;)

Cheers
