just a reminder

Oh what a lovely place Ontario is.
Local clubs get payed to call the questionares in to the hunters, here in Alberta.
Something like 50 cents per completed page, and one tag per page. Although they don't do every licence you held, but the Air cadets make some good coin in our area.

you know thats a great idea......at least the cost of postage is going to a great cause..

My beef with the whole survey deal is.........If they cant mark the survey they give you with the tag "postage Paid" then the information collected cant be worth to damn much to them.

For the guys in southern Ontario make sure you tell them how many deer ther are in your area.
All of the hunters in this area are asking that they extend the seasons... all these extra tags are not worth a pinch of coon #### if you don't have time to fill them. Tell them you want the whole month of November as a gun hunt and the whole month of December as a muzzle loader hunt. An extra week for shotgun or Muzzle loader in January would be nice too.
We got the extra tags by asking for them... so lets tell them we need the longer seasons to fill them!
I am serious.

would it best to phone them or put in a note with the questionaire...another thing i would like to see is sunday hunting every were..the locals up were we deer hunt said it was the local town councellers that rejected the sunday hunt..half that town hunts..i dont get it:rolleyes:

Good points BIGREDD!

We have the controlled hunt and ML hunt the same week, even though the ML hunt (in our area) was supposed to increase hunting opportunities. The same guys that hunt the controlled hunt are the same guys that hunt with ML guns, so that is not an increased hunting opportunity......

BTW for those guys who hunted in the controlled hunts, that is a MANDATORY hunt report, and failure to complete it "might" result in you being kicked out of next year's draw. So they say.........

Eighteen days of bow season yet, I am not done either JYC!

Amen, I paid enough already with a fee raise for liscencing nearly every year, thats Ontario for you increased hunting opurtunities that coencide with other increased hunting opurtunities, boaters cards and now a possible course to take to bow hunt. I could learn allot about bow hunting in a classroom, I only have 20 years of practical experience......

If I hunt the same bush 6 days of the muzzleloader season and see the same doe and 2 fawns every day do I put 3 deer seen on the report or 6x3=18? Now if 10 other hunters see those same deer the survey shows we saw 198 deer, boy we have a lot of deer why not try a year round season? Can someone tell me how the MNR uses infor from a survey??????

no survey received

I didn't get a survey, two years in a row now.

762nato, what do you mean a possible bow hunting course? where did you hear about that money grab?

I have been bow hunting all year. Now they want me to take a course !

Dave

I got the moose survey and the bear.. filled out the moose one.. can't find the bear ..so may have to go online for that one..

Humm looking at my forum now that you mentioned it makes me think I wasted a whole year of deer hunting seening as I havnt even seen a deer yet.

Mind you for some reason everytime I've went for deer this year the weather or other thigns wernt corroperating. :(

Dimitri

The bow hunter course is going to be rolled into the hunter safety course.... for new hunters only... and those special guys with 20+ years of experience just cuz they think they know it all.:D

Seriously the deer numbers are way up and lots of guys were beat by the weather this year. Longer seasons means more opportunities, more hunters, better managment. Tell them in your mandatory report that you would like to see the multiple tags be valid in all three seasons. And that longer Gun and M/L seasons are a necessity in your area to assist in those tags being filled.

The problem with these damn surveys is it is what they use for thier data on kils and number of animals in the area!!! The problems is that they usually only receive less than 1% back according to senior MNR. Where my camp is they have basically shut down moose, We have to apply for calf tags and this year alone I seen five moose while deer hunting and two wolves which has also been closed!!!! The MNR needs to stop wasting thier money on these surveys and start doing fisical counts!!!!!!
