Just bought my very first 9mm hand gun, the Beretta M92 FS, blued steel. I'm so excited!

I'm waiting for the transaction to complete - bought it from Al Flaherty's. Purchased a Safari gun case, and a trigger lock as well.

Time to visit and be a member of a gun club - Target Sports.

Sorry for the late photos. Here she is, taken 9/22.

I have to say, this was also my first pistol.
The trigger was funny, very smooth for a heavy trigger, but heavy.
My only minor complaint with this model you might experience is factory side grip panels are slippery if you have sweaty hands. If this happens invest in more aggressive grips and/or chalk up your hands before shooting. A few thousand rounds later I realised that chalking up made much better follow up shots with the beretta.
I had passed 8-9k rounds on the beretta before trying something else, in my experience, shoot good with the beretta and your fundamentals are GTG with any gun!
Congrats and have fun!

Edit, this is a pic of mine, only had it for 12 months, this was the pics on my for sale ad. Using a kydex holster will do this to your beretta, mine was a regular bladetech.

Very nice choice.

Just so you know I've heard ventilation at Target is poor, and being that they coach the general public to shoot with very little training, well...enough said. Their range hours aren't very good either, just sayin. One thing that is tops though is their yearly fee for membership at 750 +. I understand it goes down a good little after the first year.

Just wanted to share what little I know of the club, and all the above is based on heresay.

^^ You know the air is bad when ya see other regulars wearing those white dust masks that's got a dark gray tint to them. Spoke to one guy there with a respirator and shooting gloves and he said he got tested for high lead levels on his last physical. Hummmm...

Congrats on a fine choice, they are a good solid pistol I like the Inox model myself, I may just have to go to Flaherty's and get one before long..

I've been holding out for an Inox model myself. It is on my checklist of classics that I plan on picking up along the way, another is the Browning High-Power. The Beretta is a little more ubiquitously found than the High-Power however. So many handguns have my curiosity captured at the moment. That's why this is such a great sport to be involved in! There is no end to discovery and satisfaction, as well as grief from the wife. Some trade-offs are worthwhile however. LOL. Enjoy!

Thanks all for the kind words, congratulatory notes and tips! Still waiting for the RCMP to provide the short term ATT to Al Flaherty's.

@ Rocket An - I did hear from forum searches about Target Sports ventilation. I also put my name on the waiting list at the Barrie club which is half the price of Target Sports.

That's where I'm at. Waiting list, then waiting list for club entry level safety course(2 days, sat & sun), then 8, yes 8 probationary safety shoots, then wait for board meeting to be brought in as a new member(happens every 2 months), then wait for your att, then finally when you get your att and key card for 24/7 access, there is no shooting alone for a period of one year, you must bring a guest(shooting or watching from outside).

The pistol range is ventilated, motorized targets, great people. Worth the drive to barrie for me.

It's a long road but worth it, went through it all not long ago myself.

Let me know if you have any questions.

R.M.
