Just curious. Ammo shortage in Canada?

I was just at cabelas in Winnipeg and they just restocked their ammo, I was there the week before and they had #### all for 22 I go in today and theyve got tons of the m22 and now theybe got a bunch of 9mm I picked up some winchester whitebox for 35 which is ok.

assembled ammunition is spotty around Prince George. Powder of any kind has not been on the shelves for nearly a year. Some brands of bullets are available because there is no powder to push em. Cant find bullets in Speer, Sierra, Winchester, anywhere. I am lucky in that I can still get ChiCom 7.62X51 in 1000 round crates and I have a store of holy black for my flintlocks, so I can still shoot a couple of times a week to keep my shooten eye sharp

If you are so confident why don't you and him buy them and flip them on the EE?

I've already noticed some CGNers buying large quantities of ammo, and then reselling for a profit on EE. The 2 ammos I noticed were 9mm and .22LR. In one case the member thanks Al Flaherty's for a great price on a large purchase of ammo, and then turns around and posts on the EE selling the ammo for a profit.

It is a free country , Canada is based on the free enterprise system....so if he can find someone to throw away their money....all the more power to him ; with that being said , I SEE NO AMMO SHORTAGE HERE LOCALLY IN THE MARITIMES....so buyer beware of all the AMMO SHORTAGE HYPE !

Dirty!

Another thing about any ammo shortages is there are more and more guys like me who used to pick up a box or 2 a month and wern't what you'd call "high volume" shooters. Now I buy ammo by the case and shoot a hundred or so rounds a week. I think more and more people are doing this as I now for a fact I'm not the only one in my little town who's picked it up. Probably a dozen or so just in the last year. If this trend is nationwide (and I'm not sure it is but it's something to think about) then much more ammo is flying down range than there used to be. Not to mention the millions of new gun owners and shooters in the states since the 'Assault Weapons Ban" scare of 2013 who might be doing the same thing.

Well looky here.

SFRC just updated their site with 21 cases of the American Eagle 1000 rounds packs.

and even 40 units of the XM193 on stripper clips.

Wasn't there someone saying they were almost out, and so much for my previous post?

How about the guy saying that new .223/5.56 would not be showing up here this year?

I guess they will be along shortly with apologies to the community for stirring up further panic based on rumours and misinformation.

Gotta be a mistake...

There's a huge shortage don't cha know.

And there won't be any American 223 (never mind 556) any time soon.

A friends friend, who is friends with a friend, of a friend that was a friend, who has a friend, told me.

Oh hey Look Jo-Brooks has:

FEDERAL AE223BK A.E. 223 55 GR FMJ BOX OF 1000 CT.

FEDERAL AE223BL AR223 55 GR FMJ 100 CT

FEDERAL AE223GTV AR223 50 GRAIN TIPPED VARMINT

How can this be possible when we arent going to get any ammo from the states? :jerkit:

Oh and this

FEDERAL XM855BK150 556 62 GR FMJ-BT 150 CT.

But we should all be panicking right now because we wont see anymore cause some guys had a conversation with some guy that makes money from selling ammo.

That is links to one company. Around here the gun stores have very little 22 ammo. CT has gone from two sides ot the displayto have of one side and put in something else to fill the display up with. Can buy Remington ammo in the one gun store and Wildcats but no CCI to be found.

Without a doubt .22 is in short supply, I even posted an article about it in post #56.

However .22 is not what was being discussed, it was all the .223 (and Lake City 7.62 as well if you check SFRC's site) that showed up at a bunch of retailers this week after this post was made;

Well someone I think is really up with what is happening told me two weeks ago no more .308-300 WinMag-.223 or .338 Lapua will be shipped to Canada from US suppliers for the balance of 2014.

Time will tell just how correct he is. Had lots, just bought more.

So it appears time has told, and what the effect of repeating gun store rumours despite having been shown article after article and statement after statement from actual manufacturers as to the supply situation and what is causing any perceived shortages.

Internet rumours, which is causing fear mongering, which is thus causing panic paying and hoarding (and then inevitably price gouging).

Everyone calm down, stop being a part of the problem, watch the supply catch up, and all will be well.

The US military is not eating up all the supply, neither is it going to European militaries over the crisis in Ukraine, the manufactures are at record output and military orders are way down, and thus the demand is almost entirely consumer driven.

Just bought 2 bricks of Wildcats at Lebarons (Markham) this morning - they seem to have pretty full shelves. Price is up to $23.00 though. :(

I stocked up on .223 last time Kate at AmmoSupply had a Special... :D
