Its taken long enough but for a 1917 rifle it finally let me hit a nice Fallow doe. About 7am GMT today I was walking through a wooded valley clearing, having already missed 1 muntjac at abot 0620 when I glanced to my right and saw a nice broadside of Fallow. Bucks and does both in season so I lined up on one and wallop. It sprung up as they do and the 125 grain .311 sierra game king found the mark. I tracked it with the aid of the stalker for about 50 yards. I had hit her through the liver and the joint of Heart and lungs. She law in the Rhodedendron bushes breating her weazy last. I paced the shot and it was 40 yards max. About 1/2 the normal here in my local woods. I'll hang and skin her but try and get some pics first. Didnt need my springer who sat it out in the car to track there was so much paint on the leaves and ground!
