Just My Luck

I have no idea what the original thought is behind this decision -

If the idea was to stay true to the original 1911 - nothing but a Colt GI issue would be allowed.

No the idea was to have a single stack division in IPSC but make it different from what they have in the USPSA because they don't play well together. It's not called World War Side Arm Divison and I think very few ppl would be interested in shooting this type of firearm in IPSC. You would be dooming the division right out of the gate.

So lets relax a little bit and have some fun with these guns - they look cool and they shoot very well and save the drama for the soap operas...

So then why can't a guy shoot his non-Colt GI issue 1911?

APPENDIX D3: Classic Division

16) Handguns must be based on and visibly resemble the classic 1911-genre design. This means a single-stack, one
piece metal frame, and a dust cover (without an accessory rail) which has a maximum length of 75mm when
measured from the leading edge of the dust cover to the rear of the slide stop pin. Magazine well openings
cannot exceed a maximum outside width of 35mm. Compliance is checked by way of a 35mm wide, and at least
5mm deep, notch carved into the outside of the box, or by use of a ruler or caliper, as approved by the officiating
Range Master.

21) This Division is under evaluation and, unless extended, it will expire on 31 December 2014.

Apparently not enough. This leaves you a lot of things you CAN do to the firearm and remain within the rules as written. This really doesn't say much if you look at all the notes for the division.

SVISTI1911 - All I wanted was to use this gun in IPSC.

While I did extensive research on the gun itself, I didn't research whether it was IPSC approved.

We need to change this as it is a box stock gun.

(right now) :)

You can shoot lvl 2.
I'm sorry, but NO - you cannot.
The level of the match has nothing to do with which divisional specifications you can choose to follow.

Even considering it would be a major mistake -
People would get into the habit of thinking thier non-compliant gun was good to go; only to find out after paying hotel, entry and travel to a L3+ that they are SOL.
