Just ordered my Tavor today the waiting game begins

I got mine 2 weeks ago. Just wondering why my mag well got scratch/ wear marks when I receive it. Are yours the same?

There are two models, if you ordered the one with the rail (the extra $300 option), the rear flip-up sight is inside the rail itself.

On the model I bought, it simply swings out from the "hump" at the rear of the rifle.

Have any pics of yours, might help if the above items don't.

Cheers
Tim

I ordered the standard model without the rail. No rear flip up sight as far as I can see.

Are the Tavors really worth the $3000 that they cost?

With the sight, it's a fair price. In fact it's the current black rifle champ for price/features. A 21st century black rifle, bull pup, non restricted, charging handle on the correct side, and takes AR mags. ***Not to mention the 10 round LAR15 Pistol Mags, LEGALLY!!!***smiles

The competition: Swiss Arms (it's a neat rifle I like it, and it comes with a lot of well though out features), but it's now $3300-3600 new, The SL8 is $2500 new and it's the Michael Jackson of black rifles (IE was black at one time (G36), but in it's current incarnation it's pushing black rifle status), The XCR. Well I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for this, but I really don't like the XCR. I don't like the looks, I hated the stock, and the fit/finish seemed a bit rough to me. The ergonomics were good but it didn't seem like a $2500 rifle. In fact it would be my last choice. That being said I know a lot of people will disagree with me on that one. So be it. It's just my first opinion after checking one out. Maybe I'd change my mind after shooting one. I don't know, but I'm not going to pay $2500 to find out.

What do you think a Remington ACR or FN SCAR will cost if they were to show up?

So is the Tavor worth the $3000? It's really the same price as the SL8 and XCR when you take off the price of the optic. I would say that's more than fair for a semi auto Civilian version of a 21st century battle rifle that is currently being fielded when you look at the comparable in the market.

If you're looking for a good semi auto shooter with some black rifle qualities. Then I'd recommend the mini14 target rifle. It's a bargain at about 1K. But it isn't a black rifle. Of if you're just plinking then a CZ858.

Paulinator, what the heck happened to the rear BUIS on your rifle??? How did that get past quality control???

As an aside... I'm getting "older", thank god it only happens ONE day @ a time... But anyways... When I received my rifle, I looked into the Mepro & the reticle was not clear! I was trying to figure out what the heck was wrong, when, (wait for it...), my wife says, "Why don't you put on your reading glasses!"...

And, yup, once I put on my glasses, the reticle was clear & crisp... Damn old age!

Now, here's a little secret for guys with minor stigmatisims like me... Flip UP the rear BUIS & presto, the reticle is clear!!! Don't ask me why, I'm no optician! But, for me, it works! No "reading" glasses needed!:runaway:

The rear sight just did not come on the rifle. Can anyone tell me what they use to hold the flip up sight on? Is it a bolt or rivet or something different?

Does anyone else have a loose accessory rail? My screws are tight but the rail still wiggles. It's like the two screws are too long.

The book shows a rear sling mount but none is present. Do they come with a rear sling mount?

My non rail M21 sight seems loose a does not hold zero. Anyone know how to cure this?

The rear BUIS is held in place by a pin & an "E" clip, you can just make it out on the pic posted by bigwhiskey below.

My accessory rail is solid, not sure why yours would still be loose if the hex screws are tight. You may be correct about their length, but I'd run it by CanAm before "modifying" anything...

There is no rear sling mount, just the hole in the stock to thread the sling through. I've yet to mount my sling as I find it gets in the way of shooting & I have not carried the rifle in the field yet... LOOK OUT GROUNDHOGS! heh heh heh

WRT your loose M21, there are two nuts on the left hand side of the rifle, just below the "line" of the stock which covers them. I believe they are the ones that need tightening to solve the loose scope issue.

P.S. I am curious why your rifle seems to have little "issues" that should have not been "missed" by quality control...

The two holes left and right on the rear sight... can low light sights, fiber optic inserts, tritium vials, anything.... be installed?

Missing rear sight.

I just talked to Mike at Canada Ammo and they are going to send me the missing pieces.
Great guy to talk to and very willing to help.
Thanks Mike, I appreciate your efforts.:D

why exactly are Tavors not readily available here?

Canadian businesses just don't want to put up the money to get them before selling ______ in advance?

The barrels are custom made, the paperwork is a nightmare and Canada is (as far as I know) the only civilian market where Tavors are sold...Also they are so back ordered that a plant had to be opened up in Brazil and (some speculate) the Ukraine...so...Yeah, its too expensive to get a large order in.
